Good day everyone. I live in Jamaica and own a hybrid vehicle imported from Japan. It's called a Toyota Noah and has a 1.8l engine. It has 85000+ km on the clock but don't think that's the actual mileage one the vehicle. I've own it for a year and a half and decided to install an 400w amplifier. Two days after the install I was cleaning up the vehicle while playing some music with the vehicle on. Got back in the vehicle and saw four lights on on the dash, namely the triangle, the check engine and two other which seem tire related. Did a scan with a low level Launch reader and got the P0A80. Cleared it. What keeps happening now is the when moving from a stop the vehicle has a hesitation and a shudder then everything comes back in the dash. I know this is a Prius chairwoman but figure the tech is the same on all toyota hybrids. Any recommendations before I plunge into that massive 3xp3nse of replacing the hybrid battery?
If you disconnect the 12V battery, wait a bit, then reconnect it, that should clear the lights. You could then either wait and see if the lights come on or you could try disconnecting the amp first and see what happens. I would definitely not consider replacing the battery until you check the battery health. My suggestion is to get a bluetooth enabled OBDII adapter that plugs into the diagnostic port under the dash, then run the Dr Prius App that will give you information about the battery modules, and over all battery health. I've pretty much been doing the disconnect of the battery and the lights come back the same day or the next. Will definitely look into getting a Bluetooth adapter. Any recommendations?
I have the OBDLink LX which Hybrid Assistant recommends. It works well on all apps that I have tried. The much cheaper Panlong is now recommended by Dr. Prius. Both work with Android phones. Seeing that P0A80 is the code for "replace hybrid battery pack" and is not the code for "replace inverter", I think I can guess which one of those two you're more likely to need.
Ok... I was out on my Goldwing and didn't look it up but I knew it was one of the two. newpriusbatteries.com And I have replaced both items.
