I have a 2015 Prius Plug in, and it's been working great, but all of a sudden the charging light wouldn't go on when I plugged it in at home. I drove it to work the very next day where they have charging stations, and I plugged it in and the charging light came on and everything was good. So I figured my charging cable went bad. But I drove it to work today and plugged it in....and nothing. No charging light. I tried 3 different charging stations and the charging light didn't come on for any of them. So now I think it may be the charging port/receptacle/outlet/whatever you call it. Anyone have any ideas or tricks or tips? I have an appointment with the dealer this weekend, but I am very anxious about the cost to fix or replace the charging port. Any help would be much appreciated!

UPDATE! So I get to work today, and I try a charging station and it doesn't work, but then I try a different charging station.....and it works! The charging light came on! So something is loose in the charging receptacle?

Hi bisco, I don’t believe so, or not that I can see.

Update: I took it to the dealer and they checked the receptacle and charging system and found nothing wrong. Of course.

I bought a new charger and plugged it in and it worked! The charging light came on. I unplugged it after a few seconds and then plugged it back in just to check it….and the charging light DID NOT come on. I tried plugging it back in numerous times with no success.

What is going on?!? So frustrating…..

If you are trying to "charge now", it will work the first time you plug in after selecting that option.

Subsequent times you have to reselect the option.

Not doing so and the computer doesn't know that's what you wanted.

A few years ago there was a guy with a similar problem, the problem I think was the plastic that holds 2 of the small pins on the connector were broken so there was no contact, seems like it was an easy fix, yours may be a similar problem, check if the pins on the connector on the car are more to the back if so then they need to be put back so there is a contact with the pins on the charger.
