I'm thinking about selling my Prius to Carvana, Vroom, Carmax, a dealership, private party, etc. The prices are just too good. I bought it my 2011 Prius 4 with Solar Roof/Nav/JBL in March 2018 for $9,300. I can make a $1,300 to $3,000 profit right now selling the car. This is mind boggling. Who ever heard of driving a car for 41 months and selling it for more than you bought it for unless it's some rare classic car. I would have made more but I lost one of the key fob/keys. I do need to get a new aux battery and I need to change the Satellite Radio Antenna Base, wash and detail it to get max price. I'll be driving this 2004 base model Hooptie(see attached image) with a remote start system in the meanwhile and waiting for gas prices to hit record lows again to purchase a 2017 or 2018 Prius Prime at a great price in the future. I'm driving very little in the post Covid world so I don't require great fuel economy right now. If I move to Los Angles in the future, I'll defiantly have a Prius Prime shipped there while moving. Anyway, does anyone know what the cheapest AGM 12 volt battery for the Prius is?
Just editorial... Check with Pep Boys, Napa, and so on. There were comparable batteries, significantly cheaper than dealership. Pep Boys dried up for a while? Still?
haven't seen many bargains lately, expect to pay close to $200. as you said, it's a sellers market, for nearly everything!
we've put ourselves so deep in the hole with china, we either have to keep supporting their world domination, or suffer product shortages and higher prices
Some Prius owners have modified the battery tie-down area to accept a standard size battery. There are plenty of "normal" size AGM batteries for less money than the ones that are designed specifically for the Prius.
What really sucks is that Costco doesn't sell Prius Aux Batteries. I recently got an 800CCA battery for my 2004 Impala Hooptie from Costco for under $101 after tax. Prices for everything have gone up for everything including batteries, but Costco was still a lot cheaper than Pep Boys, Advanced Auto, etc.
some people are just tossing cheapo batteries in without vents, and making them fit. not that i'm recommending it.
Would this battery work? Do you think this could be a scam website or does it look legit? AutoCraft Platinum AGM battery, Group Size S46B24R, 370 CCA [DSPQKMQ7W3] - $104.99 : typromos.com
Started checking for myself, and seems like a bit of a drought up here. found this discussion: Need another new battery $150 at Advance or $220 for Toyota? | PriusChat ^not much info tho
A lawn mower battery or motorcycle battery maybe. It appears that exact replacements are scarce as hens teeth........so you can't get one "cheap".
I have an Autocraft battery in my 2015 that I ordered from Amazon...just over $100, 2 year warranty, 3 years ago and it's doing fine.
I just sold my 2015 to carvonka a month ago. No need to wash it, detail it...just a waste of money. They only care if it is in the condition you describe it. If the 12v still works but is old, it still works. Lady came, handed me the check along with two paper for signing. Looked at the exterior (i pointed out rock chips on hood, few dents) Looked at interior and started it. Exited the car and she said, sign the title. We shook hands and said bye. Done deal. Left it in driveway and they came like an hour later and picked it up. I did not wash it (and I am skitzo and add/occ over my cars) I also still had the original 7 year tires on it. (only 36k mi tho, but I was gonna replace in oct with insp) I will say carvonkas prices had came down over the last few weeks. I sold at the peak and my C has been dropping about $200 a week
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I sold them a 2019 Volt a few weeks ago....Lady came with the check, didn't even drive the car, didn't even look for scratches, nothing. I signed a few papers and she gave me a check ($4k more than I paid for it 5 weeks earlier). left and they came picked it up the next day.
I looked at the online prices of everywhere within a 20 mile radius of my house and the cheapest battery was $209.99 plus tax plus core. It's just crazy that you can't get a battery for under $200. I guess it's because of the trade war with China and because of Hyperinflation.
