I wonder if it still has the 'need to add at least 3 gallons' that the older generations of Prius had if they ran out of gas. That's important if you're stuck on the side of the road and have to refill from a can carried from a gas station. [not that I plan on trying that, I usually fill up before the last 2 divisions on the gauge disappear]

I seem to remember that on the older generations, absent a sufficiently large refill, one could disconnect the 12V battery for a few minutes so the ECUs could lose their memory on this, allowing them to retry to start.
No, the Gen 4 has a different (rigid) fuel tank, unlike the flexible bladder in Gen 2, that does not require a minimum fuel add to trigger the new reading.
