I have a 2005 Prius I'm balance charging the cells in it and I cannot find any specs on them. Max charge, max mAh, charge/discharge rates, when to tell a cell is bad. I also need a bit of schooling on my SKYRC iMAX B6 Mini charger if anyone can help me set it up for these prius batteries. Thanks in advance! View attachment 213593 View attachment 213592
What part of the US are you in? Folks on here tend to be more interested in helping someone who lives nearby as there's so many people on here needing help you can't help everyone... Though if you do lots of googling with keyword ""priuschat" you'll likely find all the info you need.
I live in southeastern ohio. I have tried googling this topic and can't find any specifics on the batteries. I'll try it with priuschat in it next time
Heck, all I need is some kind of spec sheet or to talk with someone who's balance charged these cells before
Have you looked at how these guys recommend first fully discharging all cells then charging? I know your charger is different but I think the key is to get all cells down to baseline low voltage then your smart charger may do the rest. Else maybe plan B and get a different charger? I think you'll find they recommend fully charging first then a series of discharges going deeper in each successive cycle. At least, that's how I read it.
Here's a copy of a spreadsheet of some of my methods... Each module is 6800 milli-amp-hours... Max charge with SKYrc charger to me is 8.7v and I usually charge at 4-ish amps with those. Make sure you're using the NiMH option on the charger. Essential is a big fan for cooling... A thermal cam is helpful for finding cells that are running too hot.
