Did a search and nothing popped up recently in regards to what the best all round tires for our Prius these days. Im milking a set of 2013 Toyo's thru the summer here in Oregon and will need something to replace them, i drive it as my daily commuter briskly at times. We dont get much snow and besides a have a 4WD Tundra for those occasions. At the moment with rebuilt battery im getting 53-54 mpg summer and 46-48 winter. Just looking for something good all round. Recomendations? SM-G960U ?
Recently purchased Bridgestone Ecopia EP150 88T from an ebay seller for $62/tire including shipping. Very smooth ride and much better gas mileage than General Altimax tires. Just my two cents.
For your driving, Yokohama Avid Ascend GT would probably be a good fit. According to Tire Rack testing, it handles well in both dry and wet road conditions.
Rebuilt it myself combining the best cells from three batteries after load testing in car . Let the car do the balancing. Had one cell fail after a year which I replaced with a good spare id saved and kept charged on bench. Still doing well a year on Average MPH is around 50 SM-G960U ?
Which is better ep422 or ep150 ? Im looking at buying a pair and honestly have never noticed ep150 before, do they have lower LRR? more are they just very poor wearing tires? Really can’t find anything about them, just noticed the ep422+ are about 50% more expensive
It’s pretty much a trade off between RR and Grip in the wet. On my last car I changed from the stock tyre to one with better grip. I lost about 3mpg but gained 300m in stopping when raining. Yes it was that much of a difference.
The ep150 look interesting, only come in a couple of sizes, including second gen’s 185/65R15. https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Ecopia+EP150
Although I wouldn’t consider them “cheap” compared to $139+ for ep422+ or 195/65’s I’ll take them if they aren’t absolutely miserable to drive on during “weather” These days tires are way overpriced and it always seems like I loose more than 3mpg when I go to “normal “ tires
I only run Bridgestone ecopia 422Plus on our Prii. with rotation every 3K miles I get good wear out of them. quiet on the road and do well in snow here in CO. I usually buy them at Amazon and have them shipped to Wal mart and they install for $25 a tire. If you save them to a list and set up notifications you will get emailed when they go on sale. I try and buy them before I need them and store them hanging on a wooden pole on the roof of the garage over a car. Last I recalled I spend $400 on tires and $110 on installation.
