2011 JBL audio/non-nav head unit. I’m replacing my head unit with a Joying Android unit. There’s an 8-pin connector on the back of the factory stereo that doesn’t plug into the Joying wiring harness anywhere. It was plugged in as stock. It has five wires populating the connector (2 black, 1 white, 1 red, & 1 orange.) Anyone know the purpose of this? Thanks

Looking in a 2010 Prius wiring diagram (more info), if pins 1 and 2 are black, 3 is red, 5 is white, and the wires from 2, 3, and 5 are contained in a shield that is connected to pin 6 (maybe there is orange heat-shrink over the shield connection?), then this is the wiring to the microphone and microphone amplifier up in the map light assembly. The black on pin 1 is called SNS2 and goes direct to the microphone amplifier, probably a switching signal of some kind. The other red, black, and white are called MACC, MIN+, and MIN-, respectively. If your car doesn't have Safety Connect, those three (plus the shield) also go directly to the map light microphone amplifier. If you have Safety Connect, those three and the shield go to the telematics transceiver, which in turn is connected to the microphone amp.
