Will be driving all around the US in a couple months. 2012 with 169k miles. We will be replacing hybrid battery soon since we checked the health and it said 33% and cell #8 is bad (it gave us p0a80 code when checking with Dr. Prius). These are the things that husband said he will replace new: Manifold Intake assembly PCV valve Coolant temperature sensor Coolant EGR valve whole assembly should we change any hoses? Question is, what else should we be changing at these miles? Tires are new and of course, oil change is done every 5-6k miles. Thanks in advance
Might want to clean or replace the EGR cooler also, if already doing that other work. (It seems the cooler needs to be loosened for the EGR valve to be replaced anyway.) You could collect the EGR flow test value first (and ideally report it here to expand our data set) to get an idea how clogged it might be at the moment.
Not wishing any issues but I would get AAA towing with at least one long tow included. Unless your car insurance includes it.
That’s what I told him but we live in apartments and we are not allowed to work on the car here We would have to drive 2 hours just to change all of the above at his parents house. Cleaning everything would probably take longer than a day to do. anything you recommend us checking/doing?
sorry, i did not mean to worry you. i'm nervous driving our 2013 hycam w/ 70,000 miles to florida and back. but i'm a worrywart
We drove last November from San Diego, Ca to Florida and back. Husband was worried the whole way but it never gave us any problems until recently the hybrid battery and 12v. It gave us the code p0a80. Now he’s being extra cautious since he was the one driving when the car told him to pull over and it wouldn’t start after turning it off
even from here to fl on rt. 95, it's amazing how many areas are in the middle of nowhere. no radio stations, no cell service. ever since i saw the movie deliverance, i've never been the same
You sound like my husband lol but he rather drive than fly. He’s more terrified of flying! Mostly clawed on my hand the whole time we flew from Cali to Florida lol
i prefer driving. not too concerned about flying (at least until covid) but i like the adventure of driving, the motels, the road meals, the side trips, just a lot of fun. but somewhere in the back of my mind is a stray arrow...
I hope one day to unexpectedly meet you in a remote far away location while we're both on road trips... Maybe inspire the locals to follow you around so as to help you work through your fears? There's lots of fine folks on both sides when it comes to long rural drives.
