Does anyone know how to get the cover off the 12 Volt battery? I removed the storage tub and then could not lift the cover off the battery. The manual shows it going straight up to remove, and I can not see any fastners holding it down.

 I've not had a problem taking a look at the 12v battery. I get the cargo 'floor' up and out of the way, then just lift up the cover... and there it is!

I noticed that in the 2004 Owner's Manual, pp 298-299, they show that the cargo floor is removed. Not sure that's been your problem, but maybe it will help.

Mine just won;t budge when I try to lift it straight up. When your's is out, what does the bottom look like? Is there a circular hollow piece on the unit that fits on a stud or pole in the battery area?

Mine just lifts right out with very little effort.

You have to remove that cover for the taillight. It's connected to the plastic cover that covers the battery. Also, it's held by two clips at the front (i.e. front of the car direction)

    1) Remove rear floor board.
    2) Remove deck floor box to expose the spare tire.
    3) Remove the floor board that covers the battery. This has four "claw" fittings. The first two are at the top in the back (attached to the piece of plastic); these grip the carpet "wall." Press down slightly and pull the plastic away from the carpet wall. The next is at the bottom of the plastic, once the top two are loose, you should be able to lift the rear portion, releasing the third "claw." Finally, the foruth claw is toward the front, and should just slide out as you angle the rear portion up and out.

You do not have to remove the cover to access the tail lamps.

    Thanks,
    Shawn

Hmm, Shawn, that cover does sorta come with the taillight cover and isn't the two clips that grip the carpet wall you speak of?

I don't think the cover for the battery is attached to the cover for tail lamp access. I believe they are separate pieces of plastic.

And in reading my post, the last sentence is unclear. Perhaps it should read: "One does not have to remove the tail lamp access cover to get to the battery."

    Thanks,
    Shawn

Hmm, that's odd. When my dealer broke the access cover (they killed my 12V while doing my ECU update), they said that it's one piece - the cover with the carpet as well as the slightly curved plastic cover for the taillight access.
