So it seems that the voice command system in the '06 has a "helpful" feature where the system gives you a lot more vocal prompts than in the '05 (ie, when you press the voice command button, instead of just beeping, it gives you instructions about what to do next). If you know what you're doing, this is a rather annoying feature and I'm pretty positive that the '05 version wasn't like this. Does anyone know how to turn this feature off? I can't find any info in the Nav manual.
I am away from the car and the owner's manual, but I believe the on/off setting is in the "Set up" menu (top button to the right of the MFD and then lower right selection in the MFD). You may need to scroll down a page or two before it is visible.
Prius – Disable Voice Command Preamble If you are tired of Jill's preamble after you hit the talk key but before the beep, you can shut it off (but not the beep) Setup > on the left side of the screen Scroll Down one page to 2/3 > set Voice Recognition Guidance OFF This only turns off the preamble before the beep.

We were wondering if that was the "Voice Recognition Guidance" feature did or not--the Nav manual is very handy, it simply states that "Voice Recognition Guidance" turns "Voice Recognition Guidance" on or off--ever so clear as to exactly what "Voice Recognition Guidance" is (perhaps my own stupidity--I was debating whether it was something else, like turning off voice commands or turning off audio prompts from the Nav system altogether).
