It seems to do better after I shut it off a few times and drive it more throughout the day. Could it be a bad inverter or converter that is not charging the battery properly?

You say used dealership. Do you mean a used car lot?

Use the mfd screen the screen above the radio it has an energy mode screen and you can watch the battery’s charging behavior.

if battery is stuck in one or 2 purple bars which is depleted or worse no bars thats bad.

Take it for a good drive on the highway while watching that screen see what the battery is doing. A happy battery stays on 4 or more bars.

Well yeah my master Plan A. Is indeed pretty elaborate. But in Small Claims Court, it would provide proof, that they did not change that battery pack! :)

I think they are lying, and they never changed the "Pack," of course they will "claim," they did because these days with an older Prius everyone knows to ask about the HV Battery. But do you have any "Paper Work," that states that your Prius, has a replacement "HV Battery Pack?"

because I don't think it does, based on a WAG, granted. And apparently they "Screwed you out of another $250 bucks?" And did nothing! You can't play "Whack a Mole," with a whole "Prius?" You will go broke! If you take it back again and "say," I think it's the "Inverter?" They will say OK, keep a couple of days and they won't change anything (because it's not the inventor) charge you another $250 and change nothing!

If you don't like my original plan? Which "may," violate what ever you have for a warranty anyway? Suck it up and find and take it to an independent Hybrid Shop and ask them ... "What is wrong with this car?" And then you will "know," what is wrong with the car. And if it is still the HV Battery? If you have paper working stating it was replaced and it clearly was not?

Then depending on what they say, Back to the Dealer ... and no $250, to make it right for real or take it to small claims court with "Proof," that they lied (if you have proof in writing that the HV Battery was replaced at least once?) and get out of the whole deal.

yes it was a used lot I bought it from. It was a Toyota dealership that diagnosed saying it was the battery. The refurbished battery work was done by a company that "specializes" in hybrid batteries.

Honestly I just want to get rid of it and try to get as much of my money back out of it as I can and just suck it up to a lesson learned and a bunch of money losses.

Aww I know, and I feel for you man. But it really sounds like you were screwed? And right now for all you know all the car needs is a real HV Battery and you don't know (right now what you have?) Get a real assessment on the car from a "Hybrid Shop," and if they say the HV Battery in the car is crap? And you do have paperwork saying it was changed and it was not? You would have a case in "small claims court!" You could get your money back or they would have to fix the car for real!

And yes it is more expense and more hassle. And I don't know what it cost to sue (if anything in small claims court?) But not much I would think? And if you have paperwork saying a "different battery," is in the car, when you bought it? And proof from a third party saying the "Battery is Crap?" You'd win, no one really trust car dealerships anyway and if you do have proof that says, they did something they did not do (replaced the HV Battery?) You win, either they fix the car for real or you "could get all or most of your money back? :)

They didn't give me any paperwork after they did the "battery repair", and there are no shops around here that work on hybrids. The only people that will even touch them is the dealerships.

OMG! Well first I am not a "Lawyer" but I watch them on TV. :)

And I was "trying," to help you set up a good small claims case against them for lying to you. But there seems to be No paper trail? So just to be clear, you have No paperwork, stating that the original, HV Battery has been replaced?

And now after paying another $250 bucks for a "Battery Repair," you have no paperwork stating what they did? Is that much correct?

My HV battery just went south today after the dealership telling me a battery fail was on the way. Very little power and engine revving higher than normal. I also noticed a fan sound coming from the back seat. I call the Prius pro at Texas Hybrid batteries and told him what happened. He asked if I hear a fan from the back seat, that is a sure sign the HV battery is on its last legs. They have rebuilt hybrid battery for $950. The next Saturday I have off I am going to run over and have him replace that and the combometer. It is a 5 hr drive but totally worth it I think. He said it would take 2.5 hrs.

Correct. I got no paperwork from the car lot I bought it from showing the battery had been replaced and then once I got it replaced Hybrid Restorations gave me no paperwork either

OK, I did understand. These guys are just really good at "screwing over people that ask the right questions, it would seem? So we have established (to my satisfaction anyway) that they have no sense of honor. The question would be are they "incompetent also?"

But whatever, I have a different set of questions now. Is this Prius your only means of transportation? And can you work it on it yourself? You'll still need at least a Bluetooth OBII, scanner and the Dr Prius App (for one.) so you can check it to determine what is wrong? But a 2006 Gen Two, with 169000, miles on it, It is not unusual for the HV Battery to be dying.

Most likely (sight unseen) it is a good car still and you got it for 4 Grand because they lied about the battery? Otherwise it would have been more.

It is my only means of transportation and I'm a delivery driver so it is also my means of income. I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to cars but I could maybe work on it myself.

Weird thing is it ran perfectly fine for three days straight this week then two days after that it only had an issue right as I was almost home. Now yesterday and today I can't even get two or three miles without it having the same problem. Other days it would do it once or twice on the way to work and then after turning it off and letting it sit for about 5 minutes it would run fine for the whole rest of the day driving it around all day at work and get me home. It it so intermittent that it is crazy.

Yes. The used lot I bought it from had bought a refurbished battery from them that was still under warranty. I paid them $250 to come put in a new one and I got about 2 miles down the road and had the same problem. I called the guy who installed it and he said it probably isn't the battery then.

Also my touchscreen doesn't work so I can't really check the systems and see what is going on.

It was actually hotter the days it ran fine that it has been the last couple of days. I don't hear a fan near the battery running. My girlfriend rides in the back and she said she doesn't hear a fan either but we both here a click right before it does it and then it shifts really hard and kind of "clunks" when the lights come on. Sometimes if I try to turn it off and right back on. The gas engine makes a kind of "clunk" and has a really rough start and idle. And you can hear the engine reviving up and down.

Yes they call it a service fee. I think it covers them driving out and the labor and such. I live two and a half hours from Memphis but I think they charge that no matter what.
