An unlicensed, uninsured, careless & reckless 18-year old driver traveling 85+ mph totaled my 2005 Prius on Sunday, 22 October. I picked up a fully-loaded Touring 2007 Prius yesterday, Saturday, 28 October (from an auto broker, not a dealer). Having learned the finer techniques of pulse and glide over the past two years, the 2007 Prius is starting off with better fuel economy. I was able to transfer floor and rear deck matts. Still need to retrieve seat covers, Sirius satellite radio and dash cover. I have to initiate the blue tooth and navigation systems and reinstall Sirius satellite radio. The Touring package is a firmer, much quieter, more responsive ride. I had a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu rental during the week - what an archaic vehicle compared to the Prius. Glad to be back in a Prius.
that's great that you were able to get another prius so soon hope you enjoy it and that you're doing okay.
Oh come on....the Malibu couldn't have been that bad. But anyway congrats on getting your new ride in a quick fashion.

Isn't it amazing how the Prius totally changes your perception of other vehicles? I was sitting at a stoplight, engine off, electric AC blowing, and the thought hit me that the powertrain of the SUV in front of me hadn't changed materially in almost 100 years. I thought, why is his engine running? What a waste! Its that damn Prius "smug emissions" again!!

As we've seen too many times on here, the Prius really does go out of its way to sacrifice itself to save it's occupants.
And the silver lining in this story is that you survived the crash, and have replaced your Prius with a 2007 model.
I think yours is the first post I've read where you now have a Touring Edition after having a 2004 - 2006 Prius, so I'm glad to hear you say the handling is improved. Congrats on the new car and on surviving the crash with little damage to yourself (I think I remember you saying you were only sore).
