I have some time constraints and the weather is more comfortable today but will be a few days till the coolant I ordered arrives. Was wondering if i'd be better to wait for the coolant and not leave the system dry for a few days or if I can get it drained and swap the pump then put the coolant in and bleed the air once it gets here? Also if it hasn't failed how essential is changing the thermostat with it the car has 225k on it so its due I'm sure but not sure how much longer I will keep the car so trying to minimize investment in it.
looked up the thermostat and its cheap so ordered that too so i guess now i might as well wait. Rather than chance damage if something dires out and cracks because i left it empty.
You have to purchase the entire thermostat housing..... $80 something at toy under $30 at auto parts... The thermostat comes out with just a turn and it's spring loaded.... don't know why u just can't get the stat by it's self
My local dealer, which does Internet sales has the "Engine Coolant Thermostat Kit" PN: 16031-37010 for $40.81 + 14.95 shipping (but for me, free pickup). Amazon and ebay also have it if you search that part number. I just did my Engine Coolant a month ago at 95K, so next time around, I will do it. Note that the Inverter has a thermostat too, and it has the same part number!
