Recently I discovered a buzzer in the right side of tailgate, near signal lamp. Does anybody know what is the purpose of this, and where is connected? I can't find any wires around. I already have a buzzer and beeps when I go reverse...
Could be a hatch-open warning? You'd need to follow the wires. If it's previous owner installed, I'd be very dubious it's needed. Do follow the wires back, see where they connect and that they don't compromise the stock wiring.
The wires don't exist further than it's in the picture, only speaker with it's wire. But, after checking the wiring manual, could be this one? Theft warning siren assembly
From the mention in post #1, it wasn't clear to me you were saying this thing buzzes in reverse. I thought you were saying the car already beeps in reverse.
In the first post I wrote this: "I already have a buzzer and beeps when I go reverse..." I was trying to say that there is another buzzer in car and beeps when in reverse. Sorry for misunderstanding.
so you have 2 buzzers and the stock beep in the car. Previous owner had ocd when it comes to back up audibles.
It looks decidedly aftermarket to me. And if it isn't plugged in to anything, we have no way to know whether the previous owner wanted it for backup beeping or for some other purpose.
Do you have park distance control sensors in the rear bumper? I have this and also a separate speaker in the rear. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
No, no sensors, only camera. Maybe this is the purpose for that speaker, thank you. In case you have access to that area (near rear right signal) please, make a picture.
some people complain that the prius reverse beep cannot be heard behind the car, so the previous owner may have wanted a warning back there
