What repairs am I likely to need in the next couple years? (214,000 miles)

    I'm debating what to do with my 2006 with a dead HV battery. It would help me to have some ballpark idea of what else is likely to go wrong with my car in the next couple years. I know these will be guesses, but some idea is better than none.

    My car has 214,000 miles. Here's her maintenance history, from most recent to oldest:

    -Currently needs new HV battery and new left front wheel bearing
    -Tune-up with spark plugs 2020 (204,000 miles)
    -Wheel speed sensor "fixed" but not replaced 2019
    -Left front wheel bearing replaced 2019 (193,000)
    -All struts replaced 2019
    Rear tires replaced 2019 (191,000)
    -Front brake pads and rotors replaced 2018 (188,000)
    -Purge Flow Valve replaced 2018 (183,000)
    -Front tires replaced 2018 (181,000)
    -Left front wheel bearing replaced 2015 (149,000) (Any idea why this same wheel bearing keeps going bad?)
    -Water pump replaced 2014 (138,000)
    -Front brake pads and rotors replaced 2013 (133,000)
    -12V battery replaced 2013 (132,000) (Mechanic just yesterday said the 12V battery is still in good shape)

    I bought the car at 132,000 and don't know her history before that, other than that she was in a minor accident in 2011 involving "left front impact" and "minor damage" according to Carfax. (Could that have something to do with the repeated wheel bearing problems? )

    Seems like numerous issues started showing up around the 180,000 mark.

    It would be great if those who have high-mileage Gen 2 Prii could give me an inkling what problems to expect around 200,000-250,000 miles.

    Are there repairs you don't see on my history list, that you would have expected to see in a car of mine's age and mileage?

    If you were in my shoes, would you replace the car or just replace the HV battery? I need reliable transportation ... I can't afford to break down on the way to work ....

    Your answers and input would be greatly appreciated!!!

    214k miles is not really high mileage for these gen2 Prius cars. They can easily go 250k miles if you keep replacing parts. Does the engine burn much oil?

    As they age, there are usually 2 fairly expensive failures on this car. First one is the hybrid battery and then soon between 10-15 year mark, the brake actuator will fail. Both of these failures will require close to $2000 repair with new parts.

    Other minor repairs will come up.

    1. inverter pump fails every 100k miles or so, that's $100 DIY repair or $300-$600 at the mechanic shops
    2. 3 way coolant valve, same failure and price range as #1
    3 combination meter, price to fix is also similar to #1

    shocks, brakes, bearings, tires, etc are things you'll be tackling with any car.

    If it’s super important not to breakdown get a better newer less mile car.

    you haven’t even started on the hybrid battery replacement nightmare.

    Use the search forums link up top and search

    hybrid battery

    to see what everyone has gone through. Not fun a lot of work a lot of money
    And when done you still have a very high mileage car that’s probably neve4 had its trans fluid and engine coolant and inverter coolant routinely replaced.
