Hi all, After over a year of mostly short trips I am going to commute again. I have 191k miles on my car and have mostly only had oil and battery changes since the pandemic started. I haven't been going to the dealer for the mileage related check-ups. I need to fix a tire pressure sensor and I'd like to get my headlights buffed because they are foggy now. What other things should I be looking to have done? My car is a 2007. Thanks!
welcome! have you done all the recommended maintenance through 190k? if not, at what mileage did you stop doing them?
@Marila new headlights are about $100 on ebay. Sometimes the old ones don't buff out all that well. I would try that first though. Just for general maintenance, I would recommend changing the coolant, transmission oil, and sparkplugs if they haven't been done in the last couple years/50k+ miles. Also, if your tires are over 5 years old, or dry rotted/cracked, you may want to get a new set. I just got a set of Ohtsu FP7000 tires, made by Falken. They were only $46 each, and ride great. I had them on another car too.
I have definitely not replaced those things in the last couple of years. Will have to look at mileage. I had my tires checked at Discount Tire a couple of weeks ago and they aren’t rotting. I did have to replace one of my sensors and the guy warned me my tread was getting close to replacing but not yet. I did wonder how long before it rots. This is helpful.
I got the tires from S&S Tire in Avondale, AZ, but installed at Sinoloa Tire in Phoenix. They are good for the money. Didn't notice any increase or decrease in mpg. Rode smooth, and pretty quiet.
