I did a search - actually quite a number of searches - to try to find the sequence to casue a "reboot" of the nav dvd in order to reload the firmware. Anyone remember the sequence? 2006 prius, nav dvd version 5.1 thanks

In order force the nav to reload the firmware from your 5.1 disc, you're going to have to take the nav unit apart. There's a ribbon cable in there that you'll need to disconnect then reconnect. Wish I had a better description for you. I've done it a few times on my own unit. If you've ever opened up a computer or something you should have no trouble with this. The most difficult part for me was disconnecting the nav from underneath the seat. If I ever do it again, I'll try to take some pictures.

Seems they ordered an updated DVD, but it turns out the one they got was earlier than the original one in my car, so the system refused to acknowledge the DVD. Also the Jill button on the steering wheel didn't work any more - until the original DVD went back in. So - they will try ordering a newer DVD again. Thanks for the ribbon cable info. Yep, getting the nav box out from under the seat is a pain.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(augustson @ Oct 28 2006, 10:44 AM) </div> the "am radio" glitch that only happens with early 2006 prii (nov and dec 2005 mfg dates) is supposedly fixed by later version 5.1 nav dvd by forcing a load of updated firmware found on the dvd.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(walt @ Oct 28 2006, 11:47 AM) </div> Oh! Yes... the new disc will automatically update the firmware. As far as I know, the disc with the "AM glitch" IS the earliest version for the 2006 Prius with Nav. It sounds like maybe they just ordered the WRONG disc. At least they know to order a disc-- Toyota told my techs to replace the MFD first! I would imagine they could also fix this problem by giving you the 6.1 disc (as it will also update the firmware).
