Ok so last night driving I get all the maintenance done on my 2010. After what seemed like a never ending battle with codes I finally got the car to show zero codes for a few days. So I was driving last night and a code pops up the P0AA6. So now I'm stumped I never touched the hybrid or the electrical and after watching a few videos and such found out it's a good old voltage leak. Well today carefully disconnected the hybrid and took out of car. So unhooked the wiring and as I'm doing this something just doesn't feel right. Like this was installed wrong. Well I flip over the battery to take the screws off the bottom and I see a puddle of liquid gathering around 2 black 10 mm screws that were used instead of the 8mm causing a puncture into one of the modules. Now I'm confused because I didn't do this and it had to be recent. Come to find out my brother in the middle of the night wanted to help so he swapped out some new modules problem is he overcharged one and was expanded. You can see where this is going so of course he couldn't get them all on right and pryed and bent a few things to finally get it together but but problem they weren't lined up so he snapped a few screws and decided let's try something else. He wanted to help and I get that but if you don't know what your doing please don't mess with the high voltage battery. Luckily nobody got hurt and the problem is fixed finally no more codes and help at the moment
Note to self, don't buy a 2010 Prius from Dublin CA. Good thing everything went back together and you're not having anymore problems. Those pictures do show a little of a butchering of the hv battery though.....
does your brother come here and post that he over charges the pack to top balance and the fully charged up cells just bleeds off excess charge in heat while the other cells charge up to full voltage also? I have him saying that in my future stash of quotes so you can identify him by name in here.
Why would your brother have your keys? I would tell him thanks but no thanks next time he thinks of helping. You are lucky at this point.
No my brother got keys while I was sleeping wanted to surprise me. He thinks he works at bart he can fix anything. No he doesn't post or use this site. I'm just hoping nobody tries to do this as a shortcut. Yeah he charged the modules at 5amps no cool down and used a 100 watt bulb drain down to 4.8 volts than back up 5amps like no no no no please don't do this again
Ohhh... dear.... mmmm Words fail right now. Ummm- glad your brother didn't toast himself? (or burn the car down?) Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
