I guess you have the metal oil filter housing, and not the original plastic one?
Or did you get the metal housing?
Or glue the magnet to the plastic housing?

Today I finally crawled under my car and changed the oil. I also swapped the plastic filter cap for the aluminum one that Toyota put on the 1.3 they used in the Scion iQ. I test fit the cap both with and without a filter in the extra housing left over from my engine swap. It fits exactly like the plastic one. To get the o-ring for the metal plug in the end of the metal cap, you do have to get the iQ filter though.

    It is part number 15620-40030

Is there an advantage to the aluminum one over the plastic one? And what's the plug in the end for?

The plastic one I removed this oil change, that I put in to the specified torque minus 5%, split on me as it came loose.

On the iQ, the filter hangs vertically, so the plug in the end is to drain it. The drain fitting comes with the filter.

Installed an air compressor that will be hidden behind the rear bumper. The yellow object is a retractable extension cord connected to my inverter.

also had a 4500lbs winch installed, hidden behind the front bumper.
you might notice I had to relocate the dynamic cruise radar to the lower grill, Some Abs plastic in front of it and it works as it did before!

Neat! What is holding that compressor in place? Is there a structural version of Silly String?

It's thermoplastic, long as it's not in direct sun or on metal in direct sun it'll hold up to pretty much anything.

changed my engine water pump for the second time this week. The first time, I had less coolant than I thought at the house, had to drive to AutoZone, the one I called that was open wasn't the one I drove to. On the last stretch to the right Autozone with 2 minutes before they closed I hear the water pump grinding. Had to way 2 days for another one and now it's in working as expected. Now I need to figure out how to get that permanent code off my ECU.

That's a pretty generic term, covering about any resin that isn't thermoset. What did you end up using? Do you have any fasteners in there or is it just sticking on the sheet metal? Was the paint scuffed or prepared in any way for that?

Permanent code will go away after 5 “drive cycles”. The exact definition escapes me right now though.

I used a few self taping screws and left space between the head and the body to wrap around to create an anchor. The air compressor I bought will be replaced with one that will allow me to use an air gun, when that happens I plan to use some thin metal wire as a skeleton then cover with material.

    It did! Thank you!
