I was in the hybrid/Evo mode most of the time after driving for about an hour. 2X I had a series of 8-10 higher pitched beeps with no explanation. An idea of what this can be? I have less than 5000 miles on my 2020 Prime.
Did you see the screen next to the speedometer blinking red? By any chance were you on a curvy road with cars parked on the side? That’s what caused my Prime to beep similar to what you experienced. I thought something broke until I noticed the screen was red and flashing something about braking.
Thank you for your reply. It happened in the same area twice. I was not looking at the speed, but to where the alarms usually flash. There was nothing there. Since it was the same area twice, I assumed that nothing was wrong with the car. I looked over the owner's manual but saw nothing that it could be.
Sounds like the pre-collision system (PCS) warning. The on-screen warning can vanish pretty quickly. There are circumstances that can trigger PCS, like metal plates in the road, curves with guardrails, etc. etc. If it only triggers for a second, the on-screen warning only lasts for that second.
Wow, that makes sense. There were old railroad tracks that we crossed over twice at almost the same time. It sounds like it's nothing to worry about. Thank you.
I think you need to drive that route again a bit more slowly so that you can observe what lights might be flashing. If it IS a false trigger of the collision warning system, you NEED to know how that warning displays........so that in the future you don't say "What is that damn beeping"........CRASH.
Or possibly Traction Control came on with a high pitch warning sound. Were you braking at the same time? If so, did the braking feel different like a split second slip? There would also be a very brief Traction Control Warning Light on dash? Or prior to Tracks or After was there a slight curve and you went over painted road lines on Lane Departure Alert came on? The LDA is not as high pitched as the Traction Control Chirp. I've never experienced 8-10 of these warning sounds though. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
