GOOD NEWS EVERYONE, well an update anyway.

Camera is bolted in, the image is so wide, any minor position change would be meaningless.

I installed a lighter adapter power jack (with a protective door) inside the cubby below
the stereo so I can power my Teclast tPad X80HD android/windows tablet or anything else...
I made a "Y" cable to connect the power cable from the jack under the right side below
the stereo console. No more cables dangling. Waiting for a 90 degree adapter for the USB
plug so the cable isn't sticking out the end. The front bezel of the power jack needs to be cut
to fit in the cubby. I used the 2 flat surfaces on the body of the jack as a reference to cut down
the bezel, cutting one may have been enough.

The tablet is running Dr. Prius with a Tonwon bluetooth OBDII adapter(Amazon).
I made a S/Z shaped adapter bracket from a piece of light gauge aluminum flashing(homedepot).
The S/Z adapter hold the bottom of the tablet and the other end hooks onto the open cubby door.
There is enough play and tension in the cubby door to bend down and hold the tablet in place.

Hope some of you find it useful.........;o)

    GOOD NEWS EVERYONE, another update...

    Garage Door Opener Mirror upgrade.

The old mirror is held in with spring tension, just push it from the bottom towards the top edge of the windshield
and it will slide off. The GDO Mirror is held by a 10-24 screw.

Prius Base 2005, connector O3 for the Maplight console is there, G3 for the garage door opener is not:eek:(.
O3 is wired for the remote mic* and has the same wiring for the garage door opener, power, ign and gnd.

I "Y"d into the wires: red, black and white-with blk trace of O3.
I do have a small inline connector between the mirror and O3 for quick disconnect but is not visible.

Programming the rolling code remote into the GDO Mirror worked fine but in our Chamberlian 1998 GDO,
two people are required to perform the learning. A person in the car pressing the button and the
other on a ladder watching the (in our case) Yellow LED. Once the Yellow LED started to flash
(picking up signal) the red/orange (in our case) learn button is pressed. The GDO 110vac lamp
flashed immediately indicating code acceptance. Pressing the learning button and back to the car
to press the remote would not work...

*I have upgraded the Maplight console with the remote mic and preamp for bluetooth from the donor car.
Have to check connector IB1 (under the dash) and probably need to add patch cables back to the MFD.

Also have donor car's stereo and combination meter on order. Stereo has the bluetooth wiring
and the combination meter ODO won't limit out at 299,999mi....... Cheers

Hello, i've bought a Prius 2006 with MFD with navigation.

    - I noticed it has an back-up camera.
    - When i put the car in reverse, the MFD switches to a blank screen.
    - I opened the hatch-interior to reveal the camera harness and wiring, the wiring seems ok and i've even measured an 6V once the car is in Reverse, so the T12 connection seems to be there but....
    - I took apart the interior so much to gain access to MFD, the M14 doesn't have the 27, 28, 29, 30 pin connected; there are no wires there.

    Help please!

    :)

If i read this picture correctly so the T13(T12)-connector from the camera in the back-hatch goes to BK2 and on to BH1 and on to IQ1 and to the M14.

I need help identifying and locating the BK2, BH1 and IQ1 so i can trace the cables and maybe add cable if it seems that it doesn't come up to the M14 connector.

    Anyone? :)

I found the IQ1 connector i think. It was under the drivers seat beneath the floor mat.

I measured the connection to the camera t12 connector and it was ok.

But i don't know where the cable goes from there.

I was thinking maybe i'll just setup a new set of wire from the IQ1 to the M14 connector.

The car has Toyotas Parking assistant but it doesn't work. I was thinking maybe the camera cable goes to some Parking assistant ecu or somewhere but i could not locate such a place.

So if anyone know where the IQ1 goes before the M14 connector would be much appreciated.

Odd, if it has the camera but harness isn't there? At least it can detect it goes to reverse and the screen switches, so that is ready.
My 05 had nothing, so I ran a shielded plus 3 conductor cable from the camera to the MFD.
    Anyway this manual should help:

I noticed also that the Reverse signal was missing from the M13 connector, i don't know how the MFD still has switched to the blank screen without it?

Anyway, i found the reverse signal from the navigation ecu(i think it's the navigation ecu) under the drivers seat and took a wire from it to the M13 connector.

Also i wired the M14 connectors pins for the camera but the picture still not coming when i put the car in reverse.

Any way to test the camera if it is not working? Can i feed to it + and - 6v and connect the video to an rca to an old crt -tv scart-adapter?

If the camera is broken, what camera would you recommend for replacement?

I would appreciate the most crisp quality camera video as possible for the MFD.

    - So i think now that there is something wrong with the MFD or with the camera.

    Cheers.

Hello, I have problems with connection reverse camera on my Prius 2gen 2008.
    1. When I connect +12V to pin 21 on connector M12, I can't get on the pins 29/30 (M13) +-6V
    2. After ignition ON i get permanently on (M13) pin 27 -6v and 28 +6v. Is that right?
    3. In diagnostic menu, when I'll shift gear to R I don't get signal REV ON. Its permanently OFF.

    Thank You for any response

Guessing you are adding a backup camera to base model which means the harness for the camera is not there and neither is the hole in the back door.
Also the MFD may be the wrong model. If the display have sharp rectangular buttons(on the screen), you will have to upgrade to an MFD with rounded buttons. Doing so will require changing pin positions in the MFD wiring as the differing MFD's are not pin-pin compatible. You will need to put in a jumper for for the reverse sense on the harness block behind the glove box.

Since the harness in my 05 was not there, I used a shielded cable 3wire plus shield and ran it from the camera to the MFD.

Anyway lots of threads on this matter ie Installing an oem backup camera on a 2005 | PriusChat
    & https://priuschat.com/conversations/need-info-about-adding-a-bu-camera-to-a-2008-base-model.141839/

    good luck

    Interesting, I'll try it!!!
    1. Display Power(+) → M14(Pin 21)
    2. ACC 12V POWER(+) → IQ1(Pin 6)
      ACC 12V POWER(-) → IQ1(Pin 7)
    3. Detection Line → IQ1(Pin8 )
    Above all, am I correct?

    1. Display CAM/Video In(Red line) → M14(Pin21), Can I only insert the line?
      Power(+) → leave it?
