My 2012 Prius Plus is close to 100,000 miles now and at the 95k dealer service, the service writer gave me a list of things that I need to look after "really, really" soon, which are questionable at best. None of them are on the Toyota recommended service list and surprisingly all seem to run about 199.95. My question to the Prius Chat experts is are there historically proven best practice maintenance items I should undertake at this time, check/refresh, etc. that are not in the 2012 recommended services. I am the original owner and plan to keep my unique Prius. I'm happy to say all listed services have been performed per the schedule to date and it has never had any maintenance issues. Your comments are appreciated.
It might be easier for us to reality-check the suggestions if we could see what the suggestions were.
Since we are expert at advising without context, I would guess two coolant flushes, sparkplugs, injector cleaning, transaxle fluid and brake flush. All reasonable. Maybe brakes depending on your driving style. If they are looking out for your headgasket they might add a carbon reducing engine flush followed by an oil change and maybe an egr cooler clean. These are also reasonable for a 2012 which has a reputation for oil consumption and head gasket failures. If its typical, the timing chain cover may be leaking. That is an expensive fix and if its not spotting the concrete, somewhat optional. It will replaced when and if the head gasket fails. Hopefully the inverter has had the firmware updates. They should be free so they may not be listed.
My 2010 passed 100,000 miles recently. I had the engine coolant changed as per the service schedule but nothing else other than oil/filter. The independent shop I took it to said I still have 70% of my brake pads left. Since plugs are due for a change at 120,000 miles, I would consider doing EGR circuit cleaning then if you plan to eventually go over 150,000 miles. Since you live in a high humidity area, testing or replacing brake fluid is appropriate.
In addition to what’s been mentioned: clean the intake manifold (special attention to the EGR passages), and while it’s off: the throttle body. No need to disconnect throttle body coolant lines btw.

That's enough to make a guy totally paranoid about the car falling apart one more mile down the road. At 100,000 miles I would say oil and filter, air filter, brake fluid, coolant, interior filter. The rest is extra. Fuel injector cleaning at my car is done every two years (an additive in the fuel), there is no intake manifold, Fuel rail, throttle body or battery cooling fan cleaning. The last one you can check yourself. I've had my Prius since 60,000 miles and it now has 130,000 miles. Never had those things done.
