Our family has used one vehicle for the last 10 years because I was only 12 min from work. I've accepted a new job that requires me to drive to various locations up to 2 hours from my home and went car shopping. Came home a 2016 Prius C. Two owners and in excellent condition, 67,000 miles on it and have maintenance records for all that's been done too it that I can see. Overall I love this little car, gets the gas mileage I want and fits me as an individual. I'm used to caring for a standard vehicle and have been reading a ton on here about battery longevity and other things specific to hybrid vehicles. I plan on keeping this for many years, anything I need to be mindful of in terms of routine maintenance or things to keep an eye out for as the miles get added? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Welcome aboard! Sounds like you have done your homework so you are no doubt aware that you should keep the HV battery fan filter clean. (Under rear seat on driver's side in US.) When you have the filter out, take a look at the fan housing too. Another maintenance item that some people undertake is to change the transaxle fluid (Toyota ATF-WS) prior to the interval recommended by Toyota. There are many threads abut that fluid change on this site. I still love my 2013 C, and hope yours is as trouble-free as mine has been.
I'll take note of those two, I'll not that in a year or more and need to get the fluid changed. My state of Georgia doesn't do the extended warranty for the battery, ours is 100,000. Hopefully it'll behave itself for a while. I've read some folks getting many many miles after the warranty period before it needed servicing. I'm blessed to have a car that has been well taken care of up to this point in it's life and want to get the most life out of my first hybrid vehicle. SM-N960U ?
I just finished watching a 5 part series on YouTube by a gentleman who explains how various systems in the Prius work in comparison to a traditional vehicle. Folks I'm awestruck, these vehicles are amazing and the engineering is crazy. Now I understand more about how it all works and why things just feel different. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
