Battery warranty for Autocraft Platinum

because someone like me can walk in to any random audo-parts store and fabricate a story with a threatening voice that I bought it there and they’re obligated to give me back a prorated price battery out the door when I actually bought it from a private seller on ebay

a reason why to buy a battery with the Walmart logo on it is that you physical proof that you bought the battery from a Walmart and theyll give you a prorated or free battery replacement.

 

At least in the AutoZone world, prorating on batteries went away 6 months ago. It’s a flat 1, 2, or 3 year warranty and that’s it.

 

i will never stop foot into an audozone ever again.

 

why does it matter where you bought it? who is paying for the new one?

 

AutoZone is the only place I've used that still has records from 12+ years ago.
their database is searchable by name, phone number, and account# if you scanned your barcode into a cool phone app like Loyalty Card Keychain (I use this on Android) you can present that qr/bar code at the checkout.

the reason I stopped using orielys was the exact same reason as you: they claimed to have lost my account info on about $600 with of parts. the manager admitted to me that their database was terrible, and things had a sell by date on them...

now I only use orielys for fluids/cleaning supplies, never possibly warranty parts

 

Good point about O'Reilly's. They were once Kragen and before that I can't even remember now (found it, Trak Auto)!... They said they'd honor their warranty BUT you'd need the physical receipt. In SoCal Carquest became part of the Advance Auto chain. Luckily AutoZone is much nearer so convenient.

I prefer (I know I know Chineseium) eBay LiFePO4 batteries now. Forget this HEAVY lead acid stuff. I see some people on Alfa Romeo and Porsche forums use AntiGravity but notice they aren't same size, plus $$$$....

Sorry for your bad experience. I found going to, (calling first about issue), another local store usually resolves any issues...

Lazy workers don't want to deal with warranty "labor"? Or get in trouble with boss per store policy?

BTW-. Does anyone else sell AutoCraft other than Advance? Are they giving a hard time "thinking" the battery was damaged, ie drained with lights on or overcharged, vs defective?

When I bought my LiFePO4 over two and a half years ago they only came with 1 yr warranty, so I bought the SureTrade 2 yr warranty. Now the ones with "dual" aka backup battery are a little more expensive $400 last I checked, but I never needed to use the feature. Now they have non-backup versions plus 2 yr warranty. (No need SureTrade unless you find it offers beyond 2 yr plan)....

Well if in the end you don't get your warranty battery I'd do an @Grit and never set foot in Advance Auto again.

i was being over dramatic and felt for the op, nothing against against any auto parts store, but I do have beef and cheddar with americas tires.

 

surprise that no one hasn’t poo poo’d on you yet for the minimal weight difference I got poo poo’d on saying that removing the entire backseat and everything won’t even cause a dent on improving MPGs which I removed 74lbs worth of stuff. But I’m at 67 mpg to the tank so I’ll let my results speak itself.

 

not an attack on China. i was pointing out members here saying the weight reduction of pulling the seats out and everything else does little to no increase to fuel efficiency, and same with the battery. If China was my target, they would have been annihilated by now USA USA USA!!!.

 

i loaded my car with china, and the mpg's suffered...
