I just like to having something a little different you may not see often.....not like every prime out there! These are carbon hydro dipped covers I dipped 2 nights ago after gloss coat. Stick ons but surprised on how clean they look aftermath wise.... door handles and mirror guards. I'm CONTENT! Going to add a carbon wrap to match for the back plastic bumper area and will post pics of that next week.
Very nice looking. Are all those parts came off easily? I thought for a hydro dip you have to dip the part into the special tank. I can see doing a small piece DIY, but how did you do the larger piece like the back plastic bumper?
All the parts do come off easily. For the handles I plasti dipped it and then hydro dipped it. Then I gloss coated it. It will come off but it is a pain. The bumper is a pain too however with patience stretching and a heat gun it does get the job done.
"Stretch" and "heat gun"??? So is it using vinyl wrap on the bumper, not a hydro dip? Sorry, but I am confused.
Yes, back bumper is vinyl wrapped. Said so in the post. I can see other parts/panels that could be wrapped as well, like the center door/window pillars and the rear roof black piece. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Thanks. Yeah, I missed the part OP said, "Finished wrapping back plastic bumper panel and side panels." The hydro dip seemed to be the way to go for very 3D contoured parts. I wrapped all the piano black plastic parts inside with textured wrap to eliminate glare and dust problems but ended up with quite a few creases and bubbles. That's why I was interested in how OP did hydro dip.
Oh I like that atomized carbon look inside. Ok I want it. That's sweet. With the creases and bubbles, the trick is to use soap dilluted with water and spray the spots. Stretch while heating and place straight while using a squeegy of some sort. I use expired credit cards with a strip of duck tape. Works great. I'm looking into that atomized piano look. That's sweet. Love it
Thanks for the tips. Next time I try, I will use your trick. Here is the link to the wrap I used. I uploaded a few of my installed photos, and they accepted them on their product site, even though it was not the perfect installation example. The photo showing below is taken from another angle on my car, well was my car, but now sold. LOL ORACAL 975 - Honeycomb Black 070 Premium Structure Cast Film | Opaque Craft Film
