My 2012 Prius V hood doesn't open. I took out the emblem to try to see if I could open it from there but couldn't. Does anyone know how to open it? Thanks.
Do you mean you can't pop it up to expose the latch using the hood release cable under the dashboard? If that is the case, just adjust the slack out of the hood release cable and try again. You can even have someone press down lightly while you try to disengage the latch with the cable. The latch might be sticking slightly. Then if you get it to pop up, make sure you lubricate the latch and work it a few times to get the lube into the mechanism. Good luck. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
it should pop up a bit when you pull the release inside the car, if it is not or you feel nothing then you need to look down there under the dash the cable may have broke or came out from the mechanism.
My friend's done it for me a few months back. The ball at the end of the cable pulls a slotted lever it sits in toward the left drive side if the car. That lever is accessible at the top of the engine side of the center of the radiator support. A remote camera and a long screwdriver will make the job a lot easier. Place the car on ramps, crawl under the car with your feet pointed out the front, look up and find the slot where the nub of the cable is attached. Use the screwdriver and push the lever to the left. The hood latch will pop open about an inch. You may want to look at another Prius, before starting to see how the hood cable and latch lever works and releases.
