Hello all! I’ve decided I’d like to buy a used Prius, and there seem to be two prominent options in my area. I can either go with a 2013 with around 155000 miles for 7000, or a 2008-9 with around 140000 miles for about 5000. Any opinions on the better buy? Thanks!
I should add, there’s a particular 2013 I’m looking at with 155000 for 7000 with an immaculate service record, oil changed often, recently replaced tires, etc.
I like the Gen2 because they're more simple in terms of doing repair work. But either way, both of your options sound great.
Would stick with the gen2, and apply the savings on a new battery when the time comes. You may want a new HV lithium pack.
I would suggest that "if" you are cost restricted...stick with a low mileage Corolla or Civic. Knowing nothing but what you provided about the 2 vehicles...there are some major costs coming soon for both.
According to data from Toyota Prius Reliability - Dashboard Light, a 2009 Prius is typically a bit more reliable than a 2013 Prius. The clean record and service history on the 2013 is good, but if you can find the same for a 2009, I’d go with that instead.
