    Hello All
I just purchased a 2014 Prius V and wondering if there is a fix for the Bluetooth connection issue.
Phone Calls work fine, Music no luck playing from my iPhone 8+.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks

Make sure its pairing for Phone and, at the same time for Music. Check under Setup, Bluetooth, Paired Device List. See below.

If you have the phone connected to the usb port, the Music goes through the Audio Source USB rather than bluetooth. To charge and use music bluetooth, charge through the 12v outlet instead.

Thanks for your reply. I tried syncing my iPhone 8+ just using bluetooth, not charging my phone and phone calls and text messages work fine, no music. Headunit is a 57011 with software version 5.2.0

Music works fine like you described using Aux cable so that is how I am using it at the moment.

I have the same radio and pair with IPhone or Ipad, latest OS. You have to ensure pairing for bluetooth music is enabled as described. Then select bluetooth again as the audio source. Once you get it, the mfd usually will remember the next time unless you also have another device paired in the car.

I have tried everything to get music to stream to my entune app in my 2014 Prius V with no luck. Car Entune app says it is synced for Music And Phone but will not sync for internet with the App open on my phone as well as my iPhone’s entune app will not sync with my car’s entune. Phone and text messages work perfectly.

I wonder could the size of my music library be the issue? Is there a GB limit on size of music Library?

Entune is probably the problem. You don't need it to have bluetooth music. There were various usb stick updates for entune for various issues. Check the reviews on the app store.

Checked the reviews, WOW! I don’t feel so inept anymore. So how would I get Bluetooth to stream music in my car? It doesn’t but phone audio does and text messages work. So I’m at a lost and I am pretty handy when it comes to using tech but this has me stumped.

Remove Entune from your phone. No usb plugged in. Hopefully your phone is already paired to the car or else you would have no bluetooth phone. Have no other bluetooth devices nearby.

Read the instructions above. In post 2 tell the car to Connect for Music. Not for internet. When thats good go to post 5.

Once you get it once it will hook up automatically almost everytime. If not check procedure in post 2 again.

Like RJP said, don't bother with Entune. My Wife and Daughter both have iPhone 8 phones, and their phones just connect. They never touch the "Apps" button which launches the Entune software on the head unit.

When I get into my car, and my wife drove it last, the Audio Mode will be in Bluetooth Audio mode. I have to hit the "mode" button on the steering wheel a few times to cycle through the various audio modes to get back to FM radio.

Thanks for the reply Gromitoo, I just resided too use AUX input for music and Bluetooth for Phone and text messages. I try every few days but no luck streaming music.

Question for all, could this be a memory size issue? My music library on my iPhone 8+ is 57 gigs?

    Hi Donald,

    I just bought a 2014 Prius V with the 57011 radio.

same exact issue your describing, I’ve spent a couple hours trying to connect. Unlike you my USB won’t play music. It will charge

I’m using IPhone X updated to latest IOS.

im going to see if any wires are loose behind the head unit,

I can make calls with Bluetooth.

my music says it’s streaming to the car, volume up, but nothing showing on Bluetooth display (spins and says please wait)

not sure if you figured your answer out yet but this thread was the only one I could find with identical symptoms

I tried the same instructions and it did not work either. I read that the 57011 use a separate Bluetooth module. Will disconnecting that module do some type of reset? I used to have a Windows phone when I bought the car and it worked fine with Bluetooth. Once I added the iPhone it stopped working. My son also has a Prius with a very basic radio and his Bluetooth works perfect even after adding all of his friends phones. I simply cannot figure it out and it is driving me crazy.

I am even willing to upgrade the Bluetooth module if necessary to make my phone work. I use the aux cord for music for now but it is really a pain to use.

EDIT: I should have known RJP would have posted the instructions from the Owners manual. It pays to read the whole post. See if you like my instructions better.

One thing I have noticed with the 57011 unit is that it only supports 4 paired phones at a time. This is an annoyingly small number of phones, for any family with more than 4 phone users. If my memory is correct, attempting to add a 5th phone does not give you a user friendly message indicating that you need to delete one of the paired phones. This may explain why your Windows Phone worked when you got the car, but your current phone does not. Delete any phones that are no longer used.

This limit is really annoying to me, since some of my Uber passengers insist they want their music to play through the car speakers. I tell them that the stereo is 2012 Bluetooth technology, and that the car must be stopped to do the several minute setup (which is true). I keep the 4th device reserved for people who still insist (The previous passenger's phone must be deleted each time).

Here is how to set it up:
Press the "setup" button, and scroll select the "Bluetooth" button. Bluetooth takes a long time to boot on startup, be patient. You will eventually see a list of five buttons:
    Bluetooth On/Off
    Add New Device
    Paired Device list
    Set System Name
    Set Pin for Pairing

Select "Paired Device List" and delete any phones you no longer use. Note that each phone will have 3 icons after the named device. Those icons are "Phone" "Music" "Internet Data". If the icon is blue, then that device can do that function. Gray means that device is disabled for that function. You can scroll and select a device, and change what the device is enabled for.

For example, my phone running the Uber + Lyft apps is only configured for phone (so I can get calls from passengers). My wife and Daughter each have an entry that is configured for Music + Phone but no Internet. I don't know which phone wins when my wife and daughter are in the car at the same time. Internet is required if you want to use the various Apps under the Apps button. IMHO, the apps are a waste of a data plan.

Go back to the previous menu, and select "Add New Device", if you now have less than four devices paired.

Thank you for your help, but it still did not work. It only spins the icon. I also followed the steps you described in a different post to diagnose the units and have attached the screens that indicated that they are working okay.

IIRC, the Bluetooth is in the Harmon Becker expansion box. Yours may have gone bad, or you may have a loose cable. Remove the whole MulitFunction Display (MFD), and remove the box on the bottom. There you will see the Harmon label with the part number. I would then search eBay for that expansion box. They run less than $100.

If you want to experiment, and don't need GPS, you can unplug the Harmon expansion box. The Panasonic 57010 has Bluetooth, but no expansion box. It is possible that the Panasonic 57011 unit also has the hardware to support Bluetooth (suggested by your 2nd photo where it says "Bluetooth: No Information"), but uses the expansion box Bluetooth hardware in the expansion box if present. The 57011 might use its internal Bluetooth if the Harmon box is missing.

A final option is to buy a device on Amazon that acts as a Bluetooth Hub, and plugs into audio input next to the USB port. These are a really cheap option, but they require power.

Did you wait at least five minutes? My 57011 spun that waiting for Bluetooth icon for a really long time.

My 57011 unit is working fine. For some crazy reason, it just takes a really long time for the Bluetooth system to Boot up, but it eventually does. If it doesn't come up in say 5 minutes, your expansion module may be bad.

If you are lucky, the previous owner had replaced his 57011 with an aftermarket unit. The unit may have died on them, and rather than spend 4K to replace it, they bought an aftermarket unit. Then when it came to trade in time, they swapped the broken 57011 back in.

They also could have connected things wrong. My guess is that the connector that goes between the expansion box and the main unit (or they lost that cable). Below is a picture of my 57011 with the 86842-yy030 cable in place. I bought mine on Amazon for $30 (no longer available), and the dealer can order it for not much more.

Either way, you need to pull it out for inspection.

Step 1: using fingers and hands only, pry loose the panel for the shifter and Park button. Don't underestimate the power of wiggling hard with your hands. Pry tools break things. You will be able to see a 10mm bolt head about 6 inches back that holds the left side of the unit.

Step 2: Open lower glovebox, then open the upper glovebox. Using fingers and hands only, pry loose the panel that holds the hinges to the upper glovebox. Another 10mm bolt head will become visible,

Step 3: Wiggle the AC vents above the unit free. Two more 10mm bolts will become visable

Step 4: 10mm socket and an extension, remove the four bolts. The unit will pull forward pretty easily. The connectors will give you some trouble. The hardest one is the gray one near the bottom right corner if you were looking at it from the back.

Step 5: Take a photo of the labels on the Harmon and Panasonic boxes. The Part numbers on the Panasonic boxes might not match what the dealer's website says.

My Panasonic PN is 86140-47020 and the Harmon box is 86100-yy050

I finally had some time today to work on my radio. No luck. Waited five minutes as suggested and no music went through.

I even performed this reset suggested in another thread, deleted all personal data and started the process again with no luck.

I also almost pressed the top bottom, but got afraid from this warning…

if I had a spare unit ready I would have done it.

it had 5.2 installed but iHeartradio does not show up in the apps.

At this point I will probably give up. This radio is probably the only thing I really hate from this car.

    Thanks for your help.

How did you navigate to the "Reset Extension Box" menu? I know my expansion box is messed up, and I want to try that option!

Your menu looks really different from mine. I do not see the Up / Down Buttons on the left. I see a scroll bar on the right. That looks like older software than 5.2.0, but I see your photo showing that version.

I followed the steps indicated here,

ENTUNE RESET PROCEDURE or Recalibrate Nav (w/ Entune Function) Do at your own risk! | PriusChat

I hope that works for you
