    Hey guys.

I am trying to instal a HID Kit for my Prius 06. I followed the instructions provided in the manual to remove the existing headlamps. My hands are kinda big and its hard to remove the lamps. I was wondering if I could do the same by removing the front bumper for easy access to the headlamps. It would also allow me to find a spot to mount the ballasts.

I tried hard by searching on google, but there weren't any clear instructions.

Give my impatient nature, I didn't want to push and prod to find out where the bolts are.

    TIA for this.

If you really want to do the work yourself, it's worth going to http://techinfo.toyota.com/
and paying to download the relevant instructions you want. In doing a search for bumper or front bumper, references there are a fairly large number. I think it's about $10 for a day of access to the files, and $50 for a month. However, it is easier to search through dpf files than through a hard copy manual. And hard copy manuals are much more expensive.

I downloaded everything for the 2005 within a week and owner's manuals for '04, '05 and '06. Of course, if you don't have very broadband it could take a good deal longer. But even if you're impatient, but want to be certain, it is probably worth your time. Of course, that depends on whether you want to do other work on your car in the future.

The bumper is easily removed by removing all of the bolts on the bottom of the front bumper where it attaches to the black belly plan, I would guess 10 bolts. Then there are the plastic pins that secure the front bumper along the top where the grill joins it. Open the hood and remove the black pins by pulling the centers up with a small screwdriver and then pull out the whole black plug/pin. Then on the corners of the front bumper where the fender well meets the front bumper, pull the fender well back and there is another bolt on each side of the car. Once all of those bolts and pins are out, the front bumper just pulls off. Be gentle as it unhooks from the plastic tabs. It kind of pops off. Then unhook the foglight plugs going to the foglights and set the bumper on a blanket/moving pad so as not to scratch. Now you can attach your ballasts in a variety of locations. Then reinstall your front bumper. Make sure you do not bend the bumper tabs as you reinstall them. They need to mate with the corresponding tabs on the car to secure the bumper. Just look at the bumper and the car and you will see where the tabs attach. Good luck. Total time to r&r probably 30 minutes.

    Hi dmckinstry,

I’m looking to replace the front bumper, the front engine under cover and the mounding of my 2006 Prius. At the moment my bumper and the engine cover and held together with a duct tape. My wife loves to take park the car over the pavement of our apartment. Over the last few months all the fasteners and pins came off and and I have no clue what goes where.

Does the website you recommend above in this thread have manual with step by step instructions and the right parts, pins and fasteners that need to be used?

    thanks!
