I love Gen II. Reminds me of my BMW 2002 days. They had about 100 hp. Gen II has great visibility, easy maintenance, light simple, great car. But oh the seats. 15 years later my wife's 2021 Plug in option 5 seats are so nice. I am hoping that non plugs in won't be so pigishly heavy. Stupid console. Less storage. Don't get me started. I always like the Persona but the Five sounds interesting. From a real world mid-Atlantic climate point of view (4 months of colder weather) how do people like the 17 in tires on the Five and just how much lower is the Persona mileage. There is a very nice looking 2010 Persona available (90K) a nice 2014 Four with the sunroof, Fives are hard to find, and plenty of 2014 Threes and Fours available...so, any comments from experience on the better years and observations especially from people who have had the Fives with 17" tires. What is the advantage of the tire size? You just pay more as far as I can tell. I have been running Gen II Touring (16") rims for years. What year(s) and option packages do you suggest and why? Thank you Prius Chat!! Web site is almost a good as the car.
ride is supposedly harsh, seats are still uncomfortable, 17's tag you 4 or 5 mpg. headgasket failure is a problem
I have 2010 Five with 17", full package except lane tracking. Tires are not problem as long as using a good one and it gets similar or better MPG not less. I just installed Michelin Cross Cilmate 2 and it's great for our climate. It significantly reduced road noise and reduced brake distance. The driver seat could be better. If you are a guy, keeping an eye of basic problems talked in this forum, it's worth to buy
Our climate being where? I ask as someone from SE North Carolina who will probably be looking at these in a year or so.
It's northern Indiana, in other words, called as Michiana. Has frigid winters with snow and long cold season. The tire has a very unique pattern for wet and snow. I guess it has been released in 2020 so pretty new one https://m.tirerack.com/tires/ratings-review.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=CrossClimate2&fromTireDetail=true Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
That location of yours with the 5 digit number threw me off. I found out after I posted that clicking on that number takes you to a map of your location. Thanks.
