63 MPG from the last 8,150 miles driven in cold winter temps, winter fuel blends were no fun.

PXL_20210418_125100932.jpg Not today, but the other day I had a cat sheild installed for $325+tax (sheild and labor). Considered doing it myself but this car is way too low for me to want to spend that much time underneath.

So what i did to my Prius today... I switched it for this (gonna sell the Prius privatly, because dealerships never pay full market price), so my journey with the Gen 3 Prius is over. Still got a Gen 4 Prius and a Gen 2 Auris Hybrid and no plans to get rid of them tho, i got some projects for both of em and im gonna post it on prius chat (gonna add a 360 birdseye view camera and an electric tailgate to the Gen 4 prius for example). The 2011 prius was a great car the nearly 6 yrs i owned it, but it feels good to replace it with this 330e.

a gen 2 prius wanted to race me today on my commute. The gen 2 motor was reving very loud upon acceleration but I keep accelerating about 4 cars lengths every time without even trying. This person modified the muffler I mean it was loud as a truck. I wasn’t even trying to even race the gen 2 but was always ahead.

Update: my 10-year-old son was incredibly embarrassed by this mod. Surprising since he is not embarrassed by snot dripping out of his nose.

Today I decided to see if my theory about putting a magnet on my oil filter was doing anything and cut it open to look . See for yourself.

While some are deleting their rear wiper I got a new blade from Amazon along with the genuine Toyota rubber floor mats. (they were shipped from Longo Toyota in El Monte, CA). Being close to the ocean here we have sand everywhere which doesn't look good in carpeted floor mats.

It needs a bath pretty badly. When I tinted the tails I originally tinted the headlights too. Made it way to dark at night. I was trying to cover up the drivers side light cause it’s a little foggy. So I guess I’ll be sanding and re clearing the headlight the next warm day I have off.

Today I found a hidden GPS tracker on the car I've had for 5 years :D I was actually trying to find somewhere to connect DRLs and in the wiring harness below the inside fuse box noticed the insulation of a wire had been stripped. Then I noticed another wire had been soldered, and after removing some electrical tape found two more wires soldered.

    IMG_20210501_182949.jpg

The unit is a Vincotech A1074. When I first saw it i thought maybe it was some soft of immobilizer system, so disconnected the 12V battery in case it decided to kill my car if it detects it's being tampered with. It has one wire for a 2G antenna (mounted in the A frame) and another for a GPS antenna (mounted on a plastic panel directly above the unit). Inside is a French SIM card "Bouygues Telecom Enterprise" (my car was originally from France), so I guess it was some kind of fleet car when it was new.

    IMG_20210501_184918.jpg

The device was powered on when the car is off, but it's connected to three wires in the harness. The CAN bus needs two wires right, so any idea what the third wire is? It's now disconnected sitting in the boot, tomorrow I'm picking up an old Ducato and planning to turn it into a campervan, so I will probably hook it up to this if I can figure out how it works.
