Just for fun, I was trying to come up with the number of electric motors contained in my 2020 L ECO. So far I have: 1. 2 under the hood. 2. Grille shutter mover. 3. One for each window. 4. Power steering. 5. Probably braking system activator or something? That's 9 so far. Am I close?
Engine water pump. Inverter water pump. Yes, in every Prius there is a motor that pumps up brake fluid pressure. But in Gen 4 they added two more. So I think you've got three of those. Three in the heating/AC to move doors around. Does yours have separate driver/passenger settings? Probably at least one extra there too. The HVAC blower is a motor. Is there still a battery cooling fan? Motor. Each door lock/unlock actuator is a motor. Hatch release actuator is a motor. EGR valve actuator is a motor. There is probably still a leak check pump in the EVAP system back by the fuel tank. Motor. And of course there's the fuel pump. Motor. Have you got two radiator fans? Don't forget those. (Or if those were the "2 under the hood" you meant, then don't forget the big two in the transaxle.) The one that moves the transaxle in and out of Park. Two in each side mirror. (Do you have fancy mirrors that self-fold? More motors.) Do you have power seat adjustments? Lumbar adjustments? All Prii (to the best of my knowledge) have seat-belt tensioners that activate in a crash, but those aren't motors, they're bombs. But I think some newer Prii also have pre-collision seat-belt pretensioning ... motors. I think we might be getting close now. Front windshield wiper. Do you have a rear windshield wiper? Washer pump motor. Another for the rear, if you have those. Another for headlight washers if that's a thing in L Eco. Headlight level adjusters (2) if that's a thing in L Eco. Throttle actuator. That's a motor.
I didn't know if an L Eco had a sliding roof. Is there a separately controlled rear heater outlet? The petrol flap in the generations I'm familiar with (1 through 3) is released by a simple Bowden cable pulled by a lever on the floor. Pretty bulletproof tech. Have they gone electric for that?
Ok, five HVAC servos then. compared to three for gens 1 through 3. Post #2. My favorite is still the fuel door with a progress display.
