I've noticed some aftermarket bars are rated for a few more lbs max load than OEM (110lbs IIRC). How is the fit? (kinda important to me since my 2020 is my brand new "baby") How is the OEM VS aftermarket for R'n'R? (remove and re-install) Are the OEM bars some standard "aero" size that accepts a standard "Aero" interface from various aftermarket bike carriers, cargo-pods, etc?
Hey man! I just finished installing the oem bars and they are fantastic. I would say they are pretty similar to the aero type bars that have use a channel to lock in equipment. there is a little bit of noise at speeds over 65 but it’s not to bad. I have had used thule, Yakima and rhino rack on other cars and for the price it was no question to go Toyota oem. I carry to road bikes and a cargo box from time to time. Everything fits and no issues with weight
I've the OEM roof rack (2019 Prius) and was wanting to migrate my Yakima Kayak Saddles (Mako) from my old car. Toyota dealer here and Canadian office not very helpful. Even Rack Attack initially led me astray (but they did take up the challenge and found the same solution as I had). Initially, Rack Attack suggested and I bought Yakima's Universal MightyMount (They have discontinued the OEM-specific MightyMounts). But this would require 16 mounts and looked ugly! Someone had mentioned that Thule makes the Toyota roof rack, so...I did further research: it looked like XADAPT12 (Thule T-track accessory kit) would meet the need. The T-bolts are the perfect length and fit the channel snuggly. As well, the round hex nut is more secure than the Yakima-included hand-tighten wing nuts. (Not sure if I need a metal washer; any advice?) This seems to be a perfect (?) marriage of Toyota-Thule and Yakima. See photo (I still need to trim rubber that covers channel).
I have these and I like them mainly because they're easy to throw on and off as needed. \ Talon Rack - 1 Bike – SeaSucker
