Agreed. Toyota is actually my favorite manufacturer. If Toyota ever releases a BEV it will be amazing!

I have heard rumors that Toyota may be teaming with Tesla to do exactly this in the near future. Toyota is better at mechanical, Tesla is better at technology. Just imagine the combination!

Sorry bro. I was still reading deep into it. It's going to be exciting. I was going to share links but a simple google search like yourself does it. I got lost in time reading and 3 kids in the background I'm sure you get the gist. I'm going to wait but I might trade in 2020 limited or sell it for cash and buy one of these toward end of next year when rebates are the most. Also please note I have heard a rumor from a good friend of mine in 3rd part designing from. That toyota is in the process to ouch the Prius to 70+mpg hybrid and 200empg. Bigger battery, smaller engine flat 4, around same HP, upping. The battery warranty to 150k 15 yr. Also heard they might be getting into bed with elon musk. If these happens I will litterly cream my pants...seriously though. LMAO

Here's a couple of designs they have but I'm telling you what!! They are way more ahead then anyone thought, with or without musk!

They released insider news on this a few months ago. However it became mainstream yesterday.

not accurate. You could own the vehicle an hour or a day and collect the federal credit. State credits may have requirements, for the federal credit you simply have to be the first titled owner.

A request to keep this discussion to prices paid and negotiated, please. Rebates, credits and incentives are definitely included.

rental income, investment income etc all are easy ways to collect the credit. If you have income from those means, you’re paying quarterly tax already, so you just have your CPA reduce your estimated payments by the amount of the credit. The only thing keeping me from buying 3 of the Primes at a time then flipping them to Carvana is my wife, it would drive her insane.

Well that and a dealers license past I think it's 5 cars sold a year. However is it not cliche that it's an investment to begin with and making money in your situation. So why would your wife have a problem with you making more money and getting more credits? I mean if already have all that adjusted extra to write off, then I would be going to town, no?

I agree, it makes fiscal sense, but she is not onboard with buying cars 2-3 at a time to keep them until the title arrives. Oh well.

That's a sad wife. Mine would be like "duh" let's do it. Are you making wifey happy "in every way" before you come to her with these props". This could be a game changer.. lol. Just joking

Financially we definitely don’t need to do it, or bother with the time involved with it. I think that may be her issue. But I grew up always wanting to save a dime or a dollar where I could, so I see any opportunity to make or save money as a benefit, but I guess it doesn’t matter at this point!

Not sure if I am understanding your correctly here, but you do not need to *owe* tax to qualify, you just need to have a tax liability of at least the amount of credit. You could get a tax refund and still qualify for the credit in the same year potentially. Sorry if that's already obvious but some might be confused the way it's worded.

Yeah, that's exactly what I ended up doing on my 2020 PP LE. Bought one last year, sold it to Carvana in 10 mo for a net gain of ~$4k. I may do it again this year even if I don't really need a car right now.

There is no last day for the federal tax credit until Toyota fulfills the 200K vehicle quota which is not likely to happen until 2022 or later. The state rebate is a different story.
