I upgraded to the Prime Limited for exactly those safety features. My old "c" didn't even have a backup camera.

Knock off all the excuses of why it must be something you are doing wrong when you are trying to charge your phone on the Prius Prime wireless charger. I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 5G (the smaller not the bigger ones). My wife has an Apple iPhone 12 mini. So all of you people with the large phones, it ain’t you. If either of us puts our phone on the Prius charger with the case on, it will start to charge and in less than a minute the LED starts to blink and charging will stop like it is over loaded. I’ve moved the phone with case all around on the pad centering it, spinning it around placing it forward or back, side to side etc. all with the same results and all of this happens in the driveway, so don’t blame rough roads or hard cornering. We both have a Otter Box Defender Pro case on our phones. Both of these phones charges on my 2021 Prius Prime Limited without the case on. The PP wireless charger says it is qi compatible (it has the symbol on it). They do charge without the case so maybe it’s the case? Nowhere on the case or its box does it have the qi symbol, so I contacted Otter Box to find out if the Defender series Pro was qi compatible, they assured me it was. I also found specifications for qi charging on line. It said, charging will take place typically at 5mm apart (or less) and can be up top 40mm and possibly more. I have a Samsung wireless charger model # EP-N5105 at home it says it’s qi compatible it charges my phone every night without any problems. I have brought it to the dealer 3 times for this problem they replaced the charging pad once and the results are the same. They keep saying its working but they do not have data from anything testing the charger. How do they test it? A phone without a case? Anything higher tech? Not yet. I also have problem with the self dimming mirror, it doesn’t dim enough to be useful they say it dims, how do they check it? With a flashlight, that’s not very high tech. It should be known that I test drive new cars for a part time job. Not all cars have wireless charger, sometimes they do and I test their charger with my phone in all cases with the Otter Box case on my phone they charge without problems. I even drove a Hyundai into the dealership to show them my phone with case charging. So if your phone with case on does the same as mine, don’t take my word for it, contact the case manufacturer, look up qi specs and find out how they test it and very important call the Toyota Customer Assistance Center in Plano TX at 800-331-4331 and open a case with a case number. Toyota needs to fix this charger. The day my car was delivered the GPS was all out of date, all the old exit numbers were still there etc. Trying to get an updated is another story. After a 05, 07, 09, 10, 12, 16 and 21 Priuses 5 of them new, this is the first one I don’t like. I wish I bought the XL and it has nothing to do with driving it.

A If you really need QI charging without success, $12 will get you a Qi 3.0 wireless charging disk from Amazon. Tape it down to the console where you would put the phone. Plug it into the USB charge cord and you are ready to go. The 5mm thick disk brings the charging coil right up to the back of the phone.
