If they came on your car they’re likely the Japanese iteration. There’s also US and Mexican made versions. All 3 are unique, have differences.
Very nice photo. I guess because you’re in Australia it’s upside down; I fixed for northern hemisphere PriusChatters.
They do roll nicely and have decent grip for an eco tyre. I'm guessing Australian-spec cars don't come with all-seasons? Yours might be a summer tyre.
Priusmatty, what do you like about them? I don't like the road noise I hear and am not sure if the tire is contributing.
I replaced my OEM EP20s a couple of weeks ago with the 422 Plus at Costco, and I love the new tires. Definitely quieter and MPGs are better as well. Very happy with the decision. (I may consider the Michelin Defenders for my 2011, when they need replacement in a few months, just to see the difference.)
I had the original 422 from Costco on my 2006 years ago. I thought it they were decent. I now have the Costco version of the Defender on my 2010. It's a very good tire. The Costco techs say the 422 Plus is a big improvement over the original so next tire change I might consider them. They are about the same price as the Defender so it will be a toss up as to which I choose. I currently have 48,000 miles on the Defenders with approx. 5/32 left. I hope to get to 60K with them.
I liked them on my Cobalt but when the time came for the Volt the cost per tire went from $88 to $150ish Not sure what I’m going to keep using now that all the lrrs are premium priced with bad wear numbers Ended up with a temporary set of $50 VIVA3 wheel protectors until I can locate a worthwhile LRR
