I bought a knock-off, too. The first one lasted a year, or until I had the steering wheel shaft recalled. The second one lasted a month. Costed $35. They are sending me a replacement. I don't recommend this because it involves the airbag. My airbag light is now on. I did it because I had limited funds and had to fix my cruise control. The least expensive OEM clock spring I found on ebay was $190. Does anyone have a less expensive source?

You can always try searching on Ebay or Car-Part.com for a used genuine OEM part. Some yards damage them when removing so if you order from a recylcer ask them "how do they know it's good and what is your return policy?" Find the center point before you install. Gently wind all the way one side, then to the other (count revolutions) then 1/2 way back. The new aftermarket units come pre-centered. Just "pull the shipping pin" once installed.

thank you all 4 posting. please report your failure to NHTSB as this is a commo problem & a safety issue. it also should not be a $1000 repair. should be a recall repair.
