Has anyone left their gen 3 Prius sit for 6 months without being started? The Toyota Service Bulletin T-SB-0152-09 says to disconnect the exclusive jump start wiring harness from the terminal at the fuse box. I did not see a wiring harness that I could tell would be the right one. There is a cable with two conductors that comes out of the back of fuse box that goes to the fire wall, is that it? To disconnect he 12 battery that is simple enough. I am concerned about the HV battery discharging over that length of time. Thanks in advance Barn
Just disconnect the 12v, that's way simpler than Toyota's method which is the standard they use for shipping new vehicles. As for the Hybrid battery, NiMH batteries by their very nature self discharge, so you can't avoid that. But it might help to remove the Orange service plug, which will isolate each module so the discharge might be slightly less if you have a really old hybrid system. Also before you shut down car you can force charge hybrid battery by putting your foot on the brake and other foot pushes gas pedal to floor while car is in drive. This will charge your pack up as full as possible without needing to spend money on charging gear.
