Hello everyone last week I had a my passenger side wheel bearing replace professionally by a mechanic after the bearing failed under a year, I had to pay for labor but not the cost of the part because it was under warranty. Yesterday I realized that they put on brake shield on backwards now the car is constantly squeaking what should I do? I'm bringing it back tomorrow I have a feeling they aren't going to take it completely apart. There just bend so it stops scheeching..... but I'm ticked that they can't do the job properly... are you sure it is on backwards? I don't think they would get the rotor on if it was, or it would contact everywhere. Even when they are on the right way the tolerance is very close. I have always had to adjust(bend) them after instal even with a brand new shield.
I doubt that the rotor shield was installed "backwards" (don't think it will fit that way). It is not unheard of for a mechanic to have inadvertently bent the shield in the course of his work and not catch it. It is "best practice" that the car is test driven after a repair, but that doesn't always happen - or whoever was driving it didn't notice the noise where it was rubbing against the rotor. Mistakes happen. Let him straighten the shield and get on wth your life. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
