4 yellow indicators on dash, slip, engine, brake, hybrid. Drove car to Toyota dealer for repair, dealer orders parts for inverter on Saturday and done on Wednesday no charged . Car only had 55.5 K miles. Car now run normal, happy with Toyota enhanced warranty on Inverter. I wonder without this special warranty how much does it actual cost for the repair ?
What they do is covered in T-SB-0036-16, which in turn refers to the Repair Manual (more info) for the gritty details. You can see that what they do exactly depends on just how spectacularly your particular inverter happened to bite the dust. If it blew the side right out of its metal case, you get the whole assembly, around $2650, or $2200 at discount, if you can find a dealer selling one. If it didn't go quite that dramatically, they may just open it up and replace the intelligent power module (transistor kit), $1500-ish or $1100-ish at discount: or perhaps that and the MG ECU ($185 to $226). and maybe a couple other miscellaneous parts. Labor-wise, replacing the whole assembly is easiest. Any of the crack-it-open-and-replace-parts alternatives will be a much bigger deal, where you really hope the dealership somehow has a technician with experience in power electronics assembly because it's much more like that than it is like auto repair. Note: don't rely exactly on the part numbers I have linked here. In some cases there are different part numbers that have to be matched to the car.
Toyota sends me new vehicle warranty extension notices in letters saying "Warranty Enhancement Program" applicable to the 2012 Prius V. In May 2017 they sent me W11 about the EGR. In Sept 2017 they sent me W05 as noted above for the inverter issue. The warranty enhancement is fully transferable to new owners of the vehicle. If you do not have access to this I could scan and upload the general text of W05. Please confirm and I shall scan and upload.
Did you find W05? A link would be an address to a website right? I have a scanner and can upload copies of stuff without too much trouble. I bought an extended care package (7 years 120,000 km) when I purchased the car. Does that mean I got any special warranty consideration? Not sure if Quebec and BC get the exact same warranty.
Yeah, from may of 2017, for Exhaust Gas Recirculation : Don’t seem to have sept 2017 paper, for inverter. Might have misplaced.
Attached below are the four pages of W05. In the text you will see that they refer to a software recall R08 which I may have gone to the dealer for. On another subject my rumble on light acceleration turned out to be a loose middle exhaust shield. The shield resonated almost perfectly with normal engine vibration during low speed acceleration. I was convinced I had the same issue as GearHead600. His excellent account of his troubles matched my situation. So I had went ahead and bought a new damper. I am thinking it will make a good Christmas tree topper. Luckily I checked for obvious loose parts before I began building a gantry crane to support the engine while the transmission was out.
Sorry I doubled up on the attachments I left the page before printing and when I came back the text and attachments seemed to have disappeared so i redid everything. The correct order is willy1, willy2, willy3, willy4.
