Hi this is my 1st post and help is needed. Thanks

Prius Plus 2012 import, 70k miles

Tis techstream fault codes shown U0131 (steering control unit) photo added
No codes on standard diagnostic equipment
    Hybrid Battery around 35%
    12v battery replaced
    Fuses checked.
Car stood parked for a few months.
Could be a possible power drain on the car also.
    Tried jump starting also

When I checked the voltage under the hood. At jump point and fuses. It matched the battery voltage. It was 12.5v last I checked. Battery is drained again.
The car seems to be draining the 12v battery.

I have checked fuses under dash and in the engine bay. I may check them again visually and with a multimeter

Would a power steering control unit stop the car from starting/ready?

Leaving the scanner tool plugged in will drain the battery too.
You didn't mention recharging the battery manually. Have you done that ?
New batteries often come half charged or less.

Hi i do double check to take the scan tool off.
New battery was 12.1v I manually charged it to 12.9v
While on charge the hybrid battery seem to be charging up at 0.06v. From 38% to 59% but 12v battery drain to 5v.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen a techstream readout from a Plus model.

The fault may possibly be the voltage sensor unit on the hybrid battery. As Tis could not reset or do a diagnostic on the battery pack

My 2012 V will not start if the 12v battery is low.

Well yes, that would be pretty much true of almost ANY vehicle.

Correct, but the Prius spins the engine with the 220v traction battery, not the 12v...

Manually charging the hybrid battery would be nice. It could be the next option.

that would be unusual for a low mile '12 after a few months, but anything is possible i suppose.

still, if everything else were fine, it should boot right up and tell tis the hv battery is low.

Yes but the 12 V powers the computers that TELL the engine to start.
I guess I'm not getting your point.
