Hello everyone. I just purchased a 2011 Prius with 215K miles. Wondering what all I should do to make this car last another 215 miles? I have only owned the car a couple of days and have replaced the cabin air filter and the engine air filter, but what else should I do to ensure this car stays in tip top shape?
I'd start by going to Toyota's service page and search the VIN number for it's service record to see what's already been done and when, and then check the Toyota service schedule to see what's recommended at your current mileage. Anything not done or overdue should get priority. I'd also keep an eye on your oil and coolant levels, checking them every week or two to see your car burns oil or looses engine coolant. I'd run a fuel additive like BG 44K or Techron over a tank and a half, and flush the engine with BG 44K. Transmission and engine / inverter fluid changes might be due. As well as new spark plugs. I'd also remove the EGR pipe to see if your EGR cooler needs a cleaning.
