While I was poking around my Prius Eco screen yesterday, I found my way to my past record and I pressed "Update". What I didn't realize was it would reset the MPG I had associated with my trip on my odometer. So now my lifetime MPG, which should be 58.1 is now 61.7 (see images below; ignore the grime, I haven't done my spring cleaning yet!).

Is there a way I can show the actual lifetime MPG of my Prius or combine past records so all the numbers are taken into account? Right now, every time I look at my MPG for my lifetime mileage, I know it's a lie and it's actually lower.

At least with 3rd gen, the dash display was “lying” from the outset, 7.5% optimistic, in my experience to date.

And yeah, any of the car’s stats can likely be lost, either due to a inadvertent button push, or disconnection of the 12 volt battery.

If you want to track mpg, I’d recommend a spreadsheet, or even pencil and paper.
