Need new AGM Battery 24R vs. 34R

I need to replace the 12V AGM battery very soon. I am on the second battery which is the Optima Yellow Top. It has 7 years of use without any issue so I am quite happy to go with another Optima. Toyota dealer is selling their own OEM at CAD$350 which is pretty much the same as the Optima. The Canadian Tires' Eliminator is $250. Costco doesn't have 24R but a 34R Energizer at CAD$220 only.
I called Odyssey Battery and they say I can use the 34R instead. The polarity position and dimension of the 34R seems to fit.

Can anyone confirm the 34R can be a substitute for 24R for my 2010 G3 Prius?

 

Thanks for your reply. I already checked the website pictures. Their polarity positions are the same. The 34R has the same width and depth but lower in height by 1/2 inch. The 34R CCA and Ah is also higher than the 24R even though higher CCA it is not required as it is used to power up the computer rather than to turn the starter motor. I might have to put a small plywood at the bottom so the battery bracket can hold it securely in place. I am only worry if the 34R would bring any adverse effects. So I am hoping if anyone here is using 34R and can confirm this.

 

Thanks. I read from your past replies about the brand recommendations. Do you think the Eliminator battery will last 5 years as they claim in the warranty? Toronto weather is much harsher than Vancouver, especially when my car is parked outside on the driveway. Optima Yellow Top has only 3 year warranty but I am very happy that it has reached 7 years.

 

Thanks for everyone's input. After more searches done in the past two days, I now tend to settle on Costco's Energizer 34. It holds more juice than 24 (even though I do not need the extra to power up the computer), identical in W and D but lower in height, costs less than the Yellow Top and has longer warranty in paper. Costco gives me more confidence in case of any future issue. It delivers to my front door too.
Are there any reason not switching from 24R to the 34?

Yeah, you get a good point. If the battery well does not accommodate the larger W and L, I have only two choices left. I will check it out tomorrow and give an update here.

Final update on my battery search:
The Prius battery compartment is so tight in space. It is designed to house only one single battery size, the 24R. Type 34 is slightly larger and the wielded battery bracket opening is too small to accept the 34. 24F has reverse polarity which the cables are too short to cross-reach the terminals. No other size battery would fit. 24R is the only choice. Only Toyota OEM, Optima and Eliminator (by Canadian Tires) makes 24R. There may be more choices in US but few in Canadian market. I will stay with the Yellow Top. Again, thanks for everyone's input and help.

Thank you very much for your info. I will definitely consider the Eliminator battery because Optima has not given me any of their Toronto authorized dealer yet. They said if I buy it from online retailers, when it comes to warranty service, I'd need to take it back to where I made the purchase. So out of Toronto sellers are a deterring factor for me now.
