The BeeMax Performance hybrid battery with 5 year warranty runs right at $3k with shipping. How are they compared to a new OEM battery? What are the advantages or disadvantages? Anyone have one? Can you tell me about it?
50% more expensive than oem, unproven long term technology, company may not be in business if you need warranty. other than that, sounds like a winner
I know right? I feel like I got a lemon buying a 2010. If I could go back in time I would have spent more at least for a 2012 or 2013.
After I threw up this post, I did find several dealers selling new OEM batteries for around $2200 but I'm not sure if they ship or how much they charge if they do. I'm still hoping not find some people who have installed the BeeMax.
In your general area, I would think that there are a LOT of dealers to pick from. If you are going to do the install yourself, why would you want to spend $800 MORE for a 3rd party battery ??
From what I've read, the product could be fine, even if the retail is a bit high. Five (5) year warranty is moot, as the OEM should last 10+ years as well. How would you make a claim, pay to send it back and forth? Unless mistaken, @ericbecky has had some experience with the above product installed in a gen2 before. Many of your local dealers are charging around 1700+ for a new gen2 battery, and a new gen3 pack is fetching around 2100+. Figure out if you only need some new modules (gen2), or a complete assembly with the sense wires, cables, nuts and extra bits (gen3), then find the dealer who will sell over the counter, and possibly a price match (as required). Took some extra labor, but was worth it. You might find a decent used pack (verified via module serials and VIN of course) for less at http://car-part.com/ or on CL, LetGo, etc.
1) I didn't realize OEM batteries could be had for that little until after I made this post. I wouldn't be shocked if my local dealers were charging $3k or more though as that's how DC rolls. They wanted $30 for the axle seal I bought from an OEM dealer online for $8. 2) I was viewing the BeeMax as a performance upgrade vs a basic OEM replacement. I made this post to see if anyone had any experience with them could tell me more. Why does anyone purchase an aftermarket upgrade? I think that question answers itself.
HIGHLY unlikely. Probably just marketing hype (lies). What kind of "performance" improvement do you think there might be ?? Many people buy "performance upgrades" because they are gullible and buy into the marketing lies.
