Hi gang ... my time with the PIP is coming to an end. I traded my 2014 PIP with 54K miles (and original 12V battery) in on a 2016 e-Golf SE with 11K miles. The deal was simply too good to pass up, so I’m going full EV. I have some extra oil filters to pass along, so I’ll let y’all know when that’s coming up. I also have a donut spare too. This group is awesome with their advice and knowledge and I want to thank everyone for all their contributions.
Stick around and give some of your fellow enthusiasts some insights on the Golf-cart! (Sorry - couldn’t resist!) Good Luck!!
Sorry to see you go. I can from VW, but gasoline. Can you tell us what they gave you for your trade in? Thanks iPhone ?
Trade-ins are typically location related, so for context I’m in Seattle. I ended up getting 11,250 for the PIP. I paid 12K for the e-golf. My insurance went down 23 bucks a month with the same coverage. The fit and finish on the interior is day and night. The e-golf is of typical higher quality. The cabin is noticeably quieter and the seats are comfortable. The infotainment system is leaps and bounds ahead of the PIP. Yes, it drives like a golf cart , but in a good way. It’s solid and very responsive. Very much a Golf and not a Prius. It’s actually a sporty confident drive. The power is surprising. The instant torque moves the car very quick. If you can imagine, my car prior to the prius was an Audi S4, and the e-golf is almost as quick from 0-45. It’s fun, and has no problem merging into traffic. But, as always, it depends on the battery life ..... so time will tell. It has the same 8-year 100K warranty. My commute (pre-COVID) was 27 miles, so this older e-golf with 84 miles will work fine. I can charge at work, and I’m just finishing my install of a level-2 charger at home. So, it should work out fine, and my wife’s car is a RAV4, for any sort of distance driving. After doing some research, test drives, and now real driving ... I’m happy with the change.
Hey, if anyone is interested (I know I should stick this in the ‘for sale’ area ... but ... I have six OEM oil filters, including drain-plug gaskets, for someone who can use them. If anyone’s interested and will pay for the USPS shipping, 15.50, I’ll send them your way.
