Hi all! First time posting. I’m retiring my 2011 Ford Transit Connect for a 2012 Prius V! 33k miles, one owner and well serviced. Should be between $12-13k out the door with taxes and everything. Gonna fly down to Florida from Michigan on Saturday and then road trip (as long as the temp plates allow, lol). Maybe snorkel with some Manatees, too. Here’s the new ride: Front by clowndog posted Feb 24, 2021 at 12:30 PM Inside by clowndog posted Feb 24, 2021 at 12:30 PM Back by clowndog posted Feb 24, 2021 at 12:30 PM I do remote work and have #vanlifed month long trips over the last 5 years... but never felt comfortable sleeping in the heat. Besides reliability, I’m mostly excited about the overnight climate control aspect. Will have to check more threads but I’d love to connect with more Prius campers here! May post a video of an official setup after getting back to Michigan... Am pretty tech focused since I do design and music production, but I think the solar panel and battery from the van won’t be necessary for the Prius. Biggest tech items will be a bass/guitar and studio monitors. Any other objects should be pretty ultralight/camping focused. Don’t really own anything else, lol. Will keep my tent in the car and opt for dry goods and camp stove instead of microwave and fridge. Have a 6 gallon water container as well. Sorry this turned into a bit of a ramble but I’m super excited and would love to hear any tips you may think of for the above setup. I also plan to sometime get a full bed/pillows/bedding in the back but will have to fight my inner minimalist, lol. Thanks for reading!
I have a 2012 Prius V. Seems like a really good deal and very low miles. Hopefully, the cars works out for you. But you should look carefully for rust or water damage. Sometimes cars get in flood water and resold with either a salvage or "new" title. Probably that isn't the case. But Caveat Emptor.
congrats and welcome! never too soon to educate yourself on the egr circuit/oil catch can/ blown head gasket issue. enjoy the snorkling, i'm jealous! all the best!
Thanks for the tip! I shied away from getting a cheaper 2013 with 140k in Ohio because of that. Will try to monitor that!
Word, appreciate that! Will check it over well. And I just wrote "new" because it's new for me. I can't post a link to Carfax at this point bc I'm also new, but it's from Starling Chevrolet Cadillac in Deland, FL and the car has 32,290 on it... should be easy to find in the search. Just one owner, regularly serviced at the same Toyota dealership and I guess traded in. Looked up the VIN for recalls and all good there. Lmk if you think of anything else!
My 2012 v has 24,635 miles on it. I'll keep it as long as I can. I'm in the Upstate of South Carolina with a moderate climate with almost no rust. I've owned mine since new. I hope you are as satisfied with yours as I am with mine. The best of good fortune to you.
I know its possible to have a 2012 with that few miles. My wife's 2013 Prius C has less than 21,000 miles on it. Before Covid she drove it 5 miles out and back to go to work during the week and has hardly driven at all since Covid began. Enjoy the car!
