Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I just purchased a 2021 Prius Prime XLE today and thought what better thing to do that join the online Prius community and learn more about the car and its features. I'll be honest that when the salesperson was explaining, in great detail, the various features/modes on the vehicle that I was a bit overwhelmed. I'm hoping that by reading the owners manual and browsing through posts on this forum that I'll gain a better understanding of the Prime and get to the point where I have useful information to contribute here. The other vehicles in my household are a 2005 Honda Pilot and a 2014 Toyota Tacoma. I enjoy wrenching on vehicles (up to a certain point) as well as tending my vegetable garden, lifting weights, and riding my bicycle.
Welcome to Prius chat. Local. Check out the Prime section of the forum and you'll find a plethora of info. If you like wrenching a bit, we have a cadre out here that gets together on occasion. But once COVID is better sorted of course.
Thanks for the welcome. Definitely keep me in mind when you have a meet up day when COVID is in the rear view mirror. I got through about 100 pages of the manual last night. I’m hoping it was due to being mentally tired that things weren’t jiving. Definitely going to reread how to get into the various powertrain modes again.
Welcome to PC. One good thing about Prius PRIME is that there is a lot to learn if you want to but if you don't you can just drive it. Make sure to check this page for new PP-related posts. Toyota Prius Plug-In Forums | PriusChat
Thanks. I will check out the link you listed. After driving this car for a few days now I’m not as intimated by all the features and various menus. Still have lots to learn, but slowly getting there. I just changed my electrical billing to the EV rate so the Prime’s first charge will be this weekend. We’ll see how that goes.
Here is the Prime getting its first electrical fill-up. I decided to put it into 8 amp charge mode just to see how hot, if at all, the wall outlet gets. It’s been charging for about half an hour now and the wall outlet is cool as a cucumber. Charge time indicated 9 hours (EV battery was at 0%) so it’s not going to get its full charge today since I’d prefer to limit charging to off-peak hours.
Very nice car , welcome !! I’ a new member too and people here are very friendly and helpful .... tons of informations and best ways to protect your investment with maintenance tips and tricks ... hope you’ll like it here !!
Welcome to the forum as well. Yes, there are plenty of helpful folks and useful information on this forum. I’m still learning about my Prime’s features . . . it’s so much more complex than any other vehicle I’ve owned.
