Have you had the car very long?

    Is this a sudden change?

Your location only says USA. Not real helpful in diagnosing stuff like this. Some parts of the USA are getting mighty cold. My part is just finally getting comfortable. If you're in the cold part, that range is normal.

What kind of miles/kWh are you getting on the eco-diary

You must be down around 3.3 miles/kWh. That would meant that it's quite cold, you have low tire pressures, a dragging brake, or you're waiting till the last second to stop at traffic lights and stop signs. Any of those will really clobber the miles/kWh which then clobbers the EV range.

I lost about 15% of my range in the last month due to the lower temperatures. Thicker air, less pliable tires etc.
Expect another 15% hit now that the snows are on.

and the ac is on, the computer artificially lowers the range number to alert you to the fact that you are using more energy, and will have reduced range to some extent. as you use up the battery, that differential gets adjusted.
fyi, it only takes turning the fan on for that adjusted number to show up, but that's a whole nuther discussion

Now without ac full charged is 19.6 or 20 mile if ac on will drop to 18.2

    that sounds right.

might be worth a test, drive around locally on a full charge, and see how far you get before the engine comes on

so when did you get the car, and what has been the ev mile estimate over that time?

WOW!!! Those are spectacularly low numbers. There's why your range is so low. I didn't know it was possible to drive a Prime that hard. Here's a recent eco diary picture of mine. It's pretty typical. My average since I bought the car is 5.0 mile/kWh. It's also typical of other Prime owners. Some are a little better and some a little worse depending on traffic and weather.

Are you towing a trailer? Braking at the last second? There's something really special involved with using electricity that fast. How's your gas mileage.

As @jerrymildred pointed out above, your daily miles/kWh is very low which explains why your GOM (Guess-o-Meter) EV range is also so low. The estimate is made from your recent EV drives and if you drive more efficiently, then the estimation also increases. 20 miles on EV range on a full charge is probably as low as it will go. I have never seen my PP EV range display drop below 23 miles. lt only happens during the coldest of winter when EV miles/kWh is correspondingly low at 3-4 miles/kWh. If you can increase the efficiency of EV mode drive to 5-6miles, then the EV range should slowly increase.

I am experiencing the same thing. Here are my numbers, but also see my thread on “commute strategy”. I apparently discovered an additional 10 miles of EV today.

Edit: as a foot note the low numbers today was because we had an ice storm and the defroster had to be run extensively this AM.

Chill mode, indeed! It is possible to drive without either the go pedal or the stop pedal pressed down all the way.

I recently purchased '17 PP w 62k miles. I live in Rochester NY and its cold/snowy right now. PP is kept in garage overnight. Full charge states 17-19 for EV range. I feel it is a tad bit low and will bring back to the dealer to check it out. What tests can be performed to test for battery degradation? The car owned prior to PP was '10 Prius IV. I understand what 'B' is and how to use it. I am light on the gas pedal 95% of the time. I don't use heat much d/t loss of EV range and I do prefer colder temps, personally. On Eco-Diary is states 2-3mi/kWh. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you

Welcome. It's good that you included the Eco-Diary data. That's the key.

This makes it obvious that the battery is fine. You're just getting lousy EV efficiency. That's to be expected in cold weather. 100% of electric vehicles get really bad m/kWh in cold weather.

Three m/kWh into 19 miles gives just over 6 kWh and that is the car's usable battery capacity. 2 m/kWh into 17 miles is over 8 kWh of capacity, which isn't possible. 2 m/kWh would only take you a little over 12 miles.

Wait till summer. Depending on traffic conditions and driving skill, you should be in the 25-30 mile per charge area easily.

    Ye olde rule of thumb:
Drive as if you had an egg between your foot and the gas/brake pedal.
