Forgive me if there was a thread on this, but I did do a search... I can't figure out how to stream music from my iphone 11, as there is no headphone access anymore. I tried plugging in the power cable, but that doesn't do anything. No bluetooth streaming either. I have a 2007 Prius. Thank you in advance.
My understanding is that Gen2 bluetooth was only for telephone (not for music even if coming from cell phone). New iphones have no jack for music (AFAIK). As a result, I stream music to my Aigoss Bluetooth Car Speakerphone, Car Stereo Music Receiver Player, Sound Enhanced Bass/Built-in Mic/TF Card. More often I download music to a 32GB mini SD card. See: PS Some contibutors here have replaced the stereo head unit. IMHO, too expensive and complicated (to keep steering wheel controls still functioning along with backup camera).
Apple sells a lightning-3.5mm stereo jack that will let you use your existing 3.5mm audio cables for your newer phone: Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter - Apple
Your 07 should have an audio mini-jack inside the center armrest. Use a lighting-to-3.5mm audio jack adapter (even the ones from apple are cheap) to plug the 11 into the jack and select AUX on the stereo. Better yet, get a bluetooth adapter as suggested in #2 so u can skip plugging in every. single. time. you want to access the phone.
Grom Audio makes an adapter. I had it in my Lexus & i'm going to put it in my 2009 Prius. retains all the factory stereo controls. just allows streaming from a different source.
